Pennsylvania Erie This is a state park beach attraction peninsula with a couple good places to skimboard if you catch the right time. The waves really rock during storms (especially in the winter before the lake freezes over if you can handle it). Unfortunately it's just glass sometimes. Head to beach 9 to find the least number or people and the most exposure to the direct waves on lake Erie. Don't go on weekends because the place get freakin' packed. On I90 in Pennsylvania get off on exit 5 and take that road all the way to Presque Isle. There's a map of the peninsula you can take a look at once you get to the park. You'll pass through the western outskirts of Erie. Submitted By: jcrone@velocity.net Peninsula Beach's 6-9 Lake Erie's Best! Presque Isle Beaches #6 to 9 are
all great. After big Storms waves can get nice so the skim possibilities
greater. Woodies work fine but I've yet to try my new glass board which
might actually catch waves. Recently, Summer 2003, lifegaurds stopped me
and my friend’s even though we were really far away from anyone. So we
talked to the park patrol folks at their headquarters right across from
beach #6 and they were really cool. They called lifegaurd headquaters
and told them we could skim as long as we wanted between beach 6 and
beach 7. They even came and watched to see what its like because no one
skims in these parts. So if you go, the Park PoPo will be happy to let
you skim between #6 and #7 for sure and 9 is far away from lifegaurdness.
You could be whistled at other beaches, lame yes but you could still
try. After 7 or 7:30pm the lifegaurds go home so you can go anywhere you
want and enjoy a beautiful sunset. 6 has crowds but for some reason i
like it a lot. Enjoy! I-90 east west to I-79 north. W 26th ramp on the right that leads above and over I-79 and takes you west. You'll see champion Ford on the right.Go straight past two lights and turn right on Peninsula Drive by Burger King. Just Go straight. That’s it! Over a bridge straight!, past cemetary, Past Waldemeer Amusement Park, then your there. Submitted By: : kmarshal@pratt.edu
