I can't do it but I wish I could, because I think it would be good for deep water or when the winds up. I also think it would be better if you had long arms and short legs ;]

Back in the day the monkey crawl was called the hand plant. Almost all handplanters are east coast. I monkey crawl but am getting back my one step too so that I can do either. Monkey crawl advantages: wind is not an issue since you hold your board all the way to the water. It potentially can get you out further since you put the board down closer to the wave. My personal opinion is that, in general the one step is better. Monkey crawl is way more problematic and the one step seems more natural for our bodies. The best monkey crawlers pop up instantly on their board not allowing their feet to drag in the water. Monkey droppers who have perfected this I think can get out crazy far. If you drag your foot, it not only slows you down but can throw off your balance.

Knee is good but the best one's I have seen go straight to the feet. Like a surfing take off.Originally Posted by h1r0k1

my beaches tend to require mostly water dropping, so i kinda would like to learn the monkey cause i feel like it would help in deep water
