Who left Bob on the Approach?!!
i seemed to have a noticed a big decrease in the size of crowds back home.. seemed like a lot more people came out when i was still learnin the ropes
there used to be tons of skimmers in the Venice area when i was starting then a lot of them went to college and quit skimming.

Benji, I think this ties back to my other thread about secret spots. Ugh. Kids are now moving to spots that we virtually uncrowded for a while, simply because they saw people going there. This is why the normal spots like 28th & Sand Pebble aren't seeing AS many heads. They still alot of peeps, just not as many a year or so ago. You still on the East Coast? Is Flagler still hitting?
SOMB's Brett Favre
Yea Benji Thats Why Cause Peeps Who Rip Like You Disappear To College. Smart Decision Though, Hahahahah
They are uneducated, they wiill be in school far longer than any of us.
I still think that new people learning how to skim aren't going to be rushing the good shore breaks like Aliso and Wedge when conditions are really good. Plus, when you first start out, it takes time to figure out when its good and when its not. Skimboarding will not go mainstream like surfing. If you fall in skimboarding it will probably hurt and when you fall surfing it doesn't. Thats why a lot of chicks don't skim. Just a guess..
my first wave skim sesh was at aliso
Where all the white women at?
i see a lot of begginers that are afraid to get on the board. they either jump on and jump off, or they get one foot on and end up falling. after a while they just dont care anymoreOriginally Posted by Travis P

i see inland skimming (rails,ramps,etc..) going mainstream long before wave skimming does. Wake skimming too. Just think about it, all you need is a river and some pvc rails. Shit will be just like skating except not as gnarly.

if skimboarding does go mainstream, it could be good and bad, yes good breaks could get crowed wit begginers and un expiernced riders. but on the eastcoast, zap and skim city are one some the few major sponsors for the eastcoast contest,if skimboarding went mainstream enough to get sponsors like redbull, or monter or any of those companys that put on wqs and wct surf contest would help pay for thos expensive contest, then our pros could make a few extra bucks at contest. but thats just what i think
so ya kno when u just get ur skimboard and its all scratched, u just gon take it back and be like, whats this, throw sum D's on tht btch

You know what you need to do is advertise and hype up a mediocre spot and actually gather there a few times, so that the n00bs think that's the best spot. People with little knowledge of tides/swell direction/sandbars/beach shape, etc, will stick to a spot with a crowd because they assume that's the best spot. When you're there, be really vocal with each other about things like, "Yeah, Shifty's isn't working anymore," or "that last nor'easter really fracked up the bar at Pink Elephant." Then once your mediocre spot is established, quit going there and stick to your secret spots. It'll take a while for the n00bs to catch on. Sure it's a little sacrifice, but it's worth it.
man i hear it's going off in montana this time of year the skim is epic..
