    Default Need Your Opinion!!!!!

So i messed up my knee skimming jan 6th. Tore my acl and i had to get surgery.

Yesterday i got cleared from physical therapy. and the doc said i can start running in a month. By running he said in a controlled environment like on a tredmill or on a track. NO PIVIOTS OR QUICK TURNS.

Do u think that means i can start skimming again in a month? or should i wait untill 5 or 6 months to start again. I really want to do comps and be decent for "comp season" but idk. What do u all think? xoxoxo

it depends on the surgery. Did you get the acl reconstruction? Did you damage your meniscus at all?

Well seeing as skimming is mostly pivots and quick turns I'd say no.

Come on dude.. skimboard is not a controlled environment...NO PIVIOTS OR QUICK TURNS.

Your answer is in your quote....I wouldn't do it..

i duno but if u get messed up again b/c u didn't wait long enough, then you won't be able to do any skimming and i think that would be worse than placing last at every contest

yea life sucks when your stuck on a coutch cause your knees bumed this is coming form someone who tore there MCL and tried to come back to quickly and prashely tore it again. be very very careful with your knee i'd say whait 2 months i knew when my knee was ready again when i was able to start doing strong good jump stops for basketball and then explode quickly up with my jumper its all a time of waiting and once you think you're good then you should test it and if it hurts at all stop emediatley and just keep waiting

please dont skim for a while. You could mess it back up and the odds are you will probably blow out other tendens too. Even when jogging feels good turning and cutting is a totally different story.

When you do start back up strengthen it back up on an indo board or start slow on some flat land. Its gunna feel weird for a while.

Your too young to blow out your knee for good.

just wait, dont listen to these guys with only live once lol.. there will still be plenty of comps in june going into summer. its better to wait 2 months or so and be able to skim again then to mess it up even worse and be out for a year and miss it all. trust me i snapped my ankle and after i finished therapy they said just to walk alot till it feels normal but not to run for atleast a month. i went skimming the next week and yeah 3rd wave snapped back... =/

My girlfriend tore her acl skimming and had the whole cadavior thing done too. Just like you. She ended up waiting the whole 6 months before she could start skimming again.

But seriously, don't listen to anyone on here because we are all just skimmers and have never met you or know anything about your injury.

For my girlfriend she was constantly going into her physical therapist and they were telling her how strong her leg was. I'd do this if you can, but if nothing else just CALL your doctor.
