    Default Golf Help

for the serious to somewhat serious golfers out there. i hit all my clubs well but im looking to add a few yards and some accuracy to my driver. im really looking at a callaway ft-3 stiff 10 deg draw biased driver with the aldila nvs shaft. right now i have a custom with a smt nemesis 370cc head and harrison striper shaft......basically, if anyone has a driver that they love or would like to recommend one that theyve tried, let me know. thanks

Damn i didnt know there were other golfers on here, i though i was the only one.

As for callaway ive never been a huge fan, i havent hit the fusion. i personally have never been a fan of aldila, i think they make cheap shafts, and the kickpoint is really high, so the stiff aldila seems like a regular or womans shaft, but hey thats just me. if you want a really good shaft i would recommend a ys design or grafalloy. Im playing an old ys-6 stiff but i like it. i would recommend the grafalloy prolaunch, its pretty comparable to the nvs, just lower kickpoint. If you go with the callaway i would recommend the neutral, just because youll be able to shape your shots more, and itll be more versitle. Ive alway been a fan of titleist driver, less forgiving but you know when youre hitting it right, and you see it pay off. ive heard good things about the cleveland 460 comp if youre looking for a composite driver. id have to say, i love titleist through and through, as far as woods, so you can really go wrong there.

PS. I dont know what youre skill level is for all i know you could be semi pro, so if it sounds like i was talking to you like you dont know shit, i dont mean to come off like that. I know how golfers can get, cuz i get pissed off when people think i dont know shit about the game.

    PPS. Shit that was long

    don't get a callaway....

I don't really like Aldila shafts either like Kramer said kick point's too high, I think there inconsistent. If you hit the sweet spot every single time with the same swing speed sure you'll be fine but I just don't like those shafts. I get way more out of my Grafalloy prolaunch.

If you're looking for something easy to hit but still puts out decent yardage I would look at some of Cleveland's drivers. (Made by Titleist, just a little more forgiving, and I've noticed less yardage) I could hit the Launcher but it wasn't giving me the trajectory I wanted. Tried it with countless shafts too... But I have a high swing speed and a steep downswing so I'm picky as shit.

I've been playing Titleist woods for the last 5 years and I've never been as consistent with woods on days when I'm not feeling it... They're forgiving enough for good players, which you seem to be... I have the Titleist 983K 8.5 degree. and I can pretty much drop bombs on it with little effort. I love the trajectory the club gives it just seems like the ball keeps going instead of doing the float and fall...

To be perfectly honest, you should go find a Cleveland or Titleist demo day and just go hit everything they have. Or just go get fitted. I think a lot of people make the mistake of not getting fitted... It can do wonders for accuracy and distance and confidence as well.

i'm not to much of a fan of callaway myself but i've swung their drivers a few times and found the head to be a bit to heavy. listen to steve taylor, he knows what he's talkin about.

i play a 9.5 degree taylor made r7 driver with a harmon shaft with a kick point of 12 degrees. i love it and gives me the distance and accurace i look for with my high swing speed.

i was never a fan of the R7. I just feel like it's cheating for some reason. Even though every golf club made nowadays feels like you're cheating with it since there is so much technology dumped into these things.

What kind of irons do you guys play? You only use your driver a few times a round ya know.... irons wedges and putters should be what you are looking into.

the pros use callaway for a reason..but i guess its all personal preference..

ive been using the same old hand me down club for 4 years.. i still hit the same consistant drive..

love my fracking 4 iron. like a par 5 dog leg.. my buddies are using their 3 woods after they drive it.. i pull out my 4 iron and hit it farther and straight than they ever will..
i also use my 7 iron in all situations..

well irons are easier to hit than woods so maybe thats why you are hitting longer and straighter then them...or maybe you are just better than them at golf in general. And a 7 probably feels good for you in every situation just because its the easiest iron to hit.

i meant fracking what kind of irons not what number iron you hit the most. what the frack i could care less about your damn 4 iron.

I got some hogan blades and i like all of them, because i don't suck and i can hit all of them.

I don't blame you, I love his and Pelz's putters the best. As for new drivers, I have never really focused on the clubs as much as I have on my swing, look at the way golfers used to play with wooden clubs; simply amazing

studio's are sick. I had the 2.5 with the black finish (forgot what it's called) unfortunately it was stolen.. luckily a good friend of mine is even better friends with scotty cameron and got me hooked up with a prototype newport 2. i didn't like it much at first but i got used to it and changed the awful grip they had on it. now it's sexy.

I golf for a while now, I have a Titlest Graphite with X stiff graphite carbon shaft in reality hit the ball about 250-275.

If I could only improve my chiping and putting I could beat Tiger tiger woods yall. ON PS2 I mean. Check out a swing trainer, they have on in Boca Raton FLA where you can walk in for $20 swing a club a few dozen times. The pro will analyze the swing on a CPU in th shop and they tell you if your swing is too inside outside or what ever. Just a thought.. this helped me...

getting fitted would be way better. since outside/inside stuff is merely one aspect of the fitting process.
