I'm super new to skimming and just got a victoria foamie. Just got to ride it today and I'm pretty happy with it but, I've been skimming at a still water pond mostly and I think I want to get a more flatland style or at least a wooden board soon (2-3 months). I really want to focus on run drop slide and i'm leery of trying it on a slip & slide or other alternatives like I see all over you tube with my foamie. I'm concerned about breaking it and/but I really want to practice as much as possible. Can anyone advise or advise against using my foamie in that way? I know not to try riding any rails with it but is there any other do's and don'ts anyone could share?
Also, I'm wondering if anyone has any dry land practice tips? Like good ways to practice run drop slide without water. Would it be bad for the board to try it on grass? I see vids of people skimming wet grass but they always seem to be wood boards (DB and Vic Matrix mostly). Or maybe lay out a bunch of towels or sleeping bags? Just ways to practice without a real water source.
I really want to practice as much as possible. I've been doing tons of research and all but at the end of the day there is no substitute for experience.
