I have never ridden a skimboard before(except an grocery store skimboard on vacation) and I am very interested in them. The little I have ridden I have loved it and I think I can have a lot of fun with it. So I'm think of making a fiberglass skimboard because I have had experience with making longboards, wakeboards, and wakeskates. Unfortunately, with this skimboard I have nowhere to ride, except my pond with no beach and is 5-15' deep, so I built a beach winch. A beach winch is boat simulator, it is a winch u tie to a tree, pole ex. and with a spool of rope, connected to a 6.5 hp engine, that pulls u across the water. So when using this I use a wakeboard, or a bodyboard, but I wanted to try a skimboard. So my ultimate question is what type of board would be best for deep water(shape, material, size, edge), should I use fins if possible and any other concerns or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Also it helps if you guys have a good board that i can look at pics for ideas to try to replicate, right know I'm looking at the Zap Pro.
It would also be cool if it can still work on shallow water(on vacation) and I might need to remove fins if I have them.
