Default Ive gotten to the wave but....

Hey so my problem is that I get to the wave but i cant ride it, i was wondering what I can do to help me actually ride it. I feel as though as i dont lean my weight as well as i should, is there any technique to help me besides putting my hand in the water as a pivot or should i just keep practicing that?

If it feels like you get to the top of the wave, but you just miss it and it rolls away...try to pumping at the top of the wave and make sure you lean forward on your front foot as said above ^

that's what I do at Aliso. you just have to snake turn like a champ and hope your tail doesn't slide out causing your board to shoot out like an Apollo rocket and your body to get hucked into the rock garden/scorpioned on the sand

You may be turning to high on the wave too. When I first started I would want to hit the lip hard and would fly out of the wave. Then I read in skimboard mag (back in the day) to aim for the middle of the wave when turning......not the top, and it worked!

^this. Because the middle of the wave is also kinda a safety net in a way, if you miss the middle you are gonna hit the lip. If you miss the lip your done.
