If you want a good one that will hold up and preform well you're probably going to want to spend more than that but if you don't Victoria woodies are ok just for learning the basics sand skimming but not much more than that. I would suggest putting more money into a better board.

If you check up in the for sale section on here you could get a good deal on a real good board in good shape too, just check often and you could find a good deal.

You really can't get anything good for around $60, even a used board cost more than that. Just stay away from walmart/kmart skims, they are junk.

If you're going to get a wood board you're going to probably want to get the biggest one you can find.

If it was me, I wouldn't waste my money or my time trying to skim on a small woody....

It really won't let you progress very far....because of that, it'd probably turn you away from skimming more than help you. You'll most likely get super frustrated trying to skim on something that is one step up from a garbage can lid.

If I were you, I'd consider saving up $200-$250 or so and getting you something that you can actually skim with...or take your $50 and go rent a legit board for a while and see what you make of that.

Buying a cheap skimboard is like buying a cheap pair of sunglasses. The higher-priced boards are made to last, and they are super-durable. Plus, you can get a custom-made board that is perfect for your needs. I ride Grape skimboards, and have had them thrashed into the rocks etc. and they are still trooping. Exile, Zap, and Victoria boards are good too.

You are going to want to spend more money than 60 dollars. I'd recommend the Vic foamie for starting off and thats probably the cheapest good quality board you can get. If your a grom i'd spend a couple extra for a SuperG by Exile Skimboards which is like $215.00 but definitely worth it. If not, you might want to try an Exile Recruit for a bit more than the SuperG at 300. Good Luck!

As skimboards involve the most technology of all water sports to make, to get a proper, working board is around 170. But hey, my first board was 40 dollars from Wallmart, used it for a couple months, learned basic tricks, then I got a Vic Foamie, caught basic waves, and now I'm riding a ton-nicer of an exile.

Velocity skimboards are the best! My Brother has one. You can rip on the boards.
