Why do exile skimboards have staples in them?

I'm not sure, because I never used staples on my foam skims back in the dayz. But from what I heard, it sounds like it is used to hold the glass in place when glassing......also I think most of the companies use staples too.

staples are used to hold fabric where you want it during lamination/construction of everything from composite boats to composite planes to the space shuttle.

there are several ways to build a skimboard without it. However we think that they all have drawbacks in weight, strength or both. So we do it the way we think results in the strongest board for the weight.
