Meanwhile in the Phillipines

Hey everyone, this is my first post on skimonline. I want to share my favorite shots taken during last month's trip to the Phillipines. As some of you might know the skimboarding scene is growing a lot around there and the country is producing some of the best riders in Asia. The shots are of Roderick C. As for me, I've been skimming for just over a year now although I seem to be the only one in Macau. The beach/water is not that great here but you get what you get (?) ... I met the Alon crew randomly whilst travelling through Zambales (province in the Phillipines) and became close friends with a few people there. I'm fascinated at how skimboarding has such a positive effect in the communities there. It gives people something active, healthy and social to do. A lot of kids come from poor families (by Western standards) and things like skimboarding ends up keeping them off the streets and away from crime. The "older" skimmers of my generation become role models to a lot aspiring riders and every month there is a skim/skate/surf bash. Most of the times it involves beach cleanups. Of course a lot of partying and music at night pinoy's know how to have fun
