Put all your eggs in the math basket and go for a perfect score. Fuck reading. I taught SAT math at a center for awhile and learned that after enough practice the questions start repeating. There are a finite number of types of questions that they ask. Learn to ID them, learn to do them, get a perfect score.
Reading is not that simple. You have vocab, passages, and other bullshit which is basically a bottomless bag of shit they can pull on you.
Studying math will actually get you proportional returns on your time investment... because math is... a real subject.
Do better on the math and apply to math/engineering. I got a 780 on math and a 580 on reading, walked right into college. And yes get of somb and read.
disregard females, acquire currency
I got nearly perfect score in reading/writing. Math was where I lacked. I hadn't taken a math class in a few years at that point (got my alg1, geometry, alg 2 all done prior to 10th grade)
this being said, study math. There are lots of formulas and use of formulas and just essentially dusting off of the cogs I needed for math portion and I just winged it. could've gotten an upper 14-1500 had done better in math.
spoiler: I got a 1390/1600 or something close to that.
If You own an superb speed internet connection then it is also achievable toAcess Television on your Pc without any bother and Television quality is also glorious
There's no real secret tips that anyone can give you that will boost your score significantly. Do a google search for basic test taking strategies. In the end, it's just like any other test, you're going to have to study for it. Like Caster said above, there's a general trend to the styles of the questions they ask (especially math). Buy a test prep book and go through it. If you recognize the style of a question, mark it off and move on to the next one so you don't waste your time. Reading is significantly based on your vocabulary range. Buy vocab books or search online for similar websites. Subscribe to all the "word a day" apps you can find. The amount of exposure to new words will give you a huge advantage. Finally, as far as essays (not sure if they still do this?), focus mostly on structure and flow within your essay. Your opinion doesn't have to be right, you just have to justify it in a coherent way. Take a minute or two to jot down a quick outline. Introduction gives the reader insight into your position. End the intro on a sentence that you can start your next body paragraph talking about. In other words, you want a seamless transition between paragraphs. You want the reader to be able to follow your thought process. Use your body paragraphs to introduce the justifying points to support your position. End with a conclusion that summarized your position with reasons why you chose it. Never introduce new material in the conclusion.

take the act? i got a 35 in the math portion and ended up with a 31 overall because i phoned it in on the science part.
(i had just got my scores from a previous SAT i had taken and it was good enough for my scholarship. didnt care to even take the act except that i had already paid for it.)
i suck at sat math lol I'm good on the reading. what i did was just read books and newspapers, helped a lot actually
if you're cool with me I'm cool with you. if u don't like me...idc, I'm just gonna keep skimming
Yeah definitely take time to look at the ACT if that's not out of the question yet for you. I "studied" a decent amount for the SAT and got a 1280/1600 and then the next week after no studying and being hungover I gotta 30/36 on the ACT which turns out to be something equivalent to a 1350/1600.
There are also SAT Tutors that you can hire (pretty damn expensive though, like $50 an hour I think?) that my friends used and their scores improved at least 100 points each. Look into that as well for the reading section specifically and they'll tailor it to your needs I'm sure.
This working out thing isn't working out.
Master a foreign language or better yet just be foreign. Pick a foreign language as your elective in the SATs (I think they still have it?). Get an 800. Dont worry about reading or math and get into a good school.
Pretty much how Asian kids roll into decent schools.
The ACT is so much easier than the SAT. The structure of it itself is enough to boost your score (questions get progressively more difficult).

Just take as many practice tests as possible, and you'll get better. I have no tutor and just practiced on my own and I got a 2200/2400 or 1420/1600. However, if your not motivated enough to do it on your own then get a tutor who will make you practice. There's no real secret to getting your score up other than practicing
Party the night before, roll in there half hung over with no breakfast. Crush it based on raw intelligence.
This advice may not be practical for everyone.

I might be a little late but you can always suck the proctors dick
still need help?
take the ACT like everyone else is saying. got a 32 and i left to take a crap during the test... and i didn't fill in all the bubbles on the science section either b/c i was day dreaming (or dozed off or something) and before i knew it... time ran out and i didn't have time to pick random bubbles (no penalties for wrong answers here).
if that is not an option though, take the sat twice and take lots of practice tests at home b/c like anything, experience helps. i jumped like 50 or 100 points overall when i retook the SAT just b/c i was much more familiar with what to expect the second time around and more relaxed... although the relaxed part did cause my math score to drop 60 points. think i was 2080 (or so) on my retake - not the highest, but high enough and happy i retook.
still doesn't work apply as a female to engineering school at a public university - you already have good math scores. literally almost every girl i know at every school in engineering did not have as good grades or test scores as the guys but the government tends to frown upon "discrimination". won't really work at a private school though as funding is somewhat independent.
trololololol or srsly?????????????
Bunch of smart fracks in here. I just checked my SAT (from 2005)... Got a 1200, and I did well in school. They either made he test easier or y'all are smart.
I haven't done well on most tests though. I did real shitty on the GRE and did kinda shitty my second time.

my third SAT got me to a 1660 three part, i think a 1080 two part. was good enough to get me into the schools i wanted along with decent enough grades.
