Default I'am new, help me with a choice:)

Hello i live in Woodbridge, Nj. Yestarday was at long branch, waves are good.
Help me please to find skimboard, for waves and some skim-sand trick. I'am beginner, but a lot enjoy extreme sports like inline skating, snowboarding and skateboarding.
    Weight around 138lbs, height ~ 5,7.

Which one is better for me:

    or

    ???

And for what need tracking pads?

cause ur a beginner around that area i would recommend a 3/4 not a 5/8. the waves usually aren't strong in long branch so unless u run fast and know what ur doing then i would get a 5/8, but since ur new i would say 3/4. as for the board it self i don't know much about victoria. u might want to talk to toeknee, he rode for vic for quite some time.

traction pads i would get freak, they're guaranteed to stick. they're a more firm pad as apposed to astrodeck or dakine
if you're cool with me I'm cool with you. if u don't like me...idc, I'm just gonna keep skimming

Grommet all the way. Get the large one for sure.... If u have the money apply pads, u will end up getting them anyway, if not , apply em when u mastered the one-step tecnique and can do the transition from sand to water smoothly.

Pd. take care of your board, dont expose it to sun when in rest and avoid rocks!, i always check the sea for rocks bfore skiming.... Also dont step on it hard on deep water, gettin on the skim should be just walking over it (light footed mentality, like walking on rocks) , but since weight nothing, wont be much of a problem. Good luck! (white boards withstand sun better)

Yeah but the grommets M is too small, even the L is small in comparison to the industry's Large standard... Yeah u could run fast but that wont help u if u dont have the one step technique mastered. Larger boards float better cuz they have more surface, so they glide nicely across them water, therefore waves are easier to reach. Since the grommet is 5/8 thck standard. U will need the large...

Also, make sure u watch a couple of vids on how to apply traction, its not just stiking it ... U have to sand it, clean with alcohol or acetone, apply evenly and wait for it to stick for 24 hrs.. Apply Krazy glue the boarders to avoid water getin in. Watch them vidz!!!

    Hi,
The difference between the Foamie and the Grommet is just in the construction. These 2 boards have the same shape and rocker, designed for beginner/intermediate rider. Short and wide, really stable easy to plane far, and good float. Foamie is manufactured in China, has a Plastic bottom and is a little heavier than the Grommet. The Grommet is Manufactured in the US, better Foam Core and lighter board overall for better performance than the Foamie, which explains the difference in pricing.
Now if you look at the Ultra, also manufactured in the US, it is a longer and narrower shape designed for quicker, shorter turns for intermediate riders or higher.
Pads are good at least for the back, the front one is good and comfortable to ride with but not as essential as the back pad.

the main difference is that the eglass uses premium materials. eglass is made with epoxy and a premium core for instance. The recruit is still a solid choice for many riders though.

Get the Larger one so you can get the basics on it, because eventually your gonna grow and have to buy a better new one
Tip: since your a beginner save money because if you want a good one its gonna cost like 300-400 bucks roughly depends on the material.
