    “The most important human endeavor is the striving for morality in our actions. Our inner balance and even our very existence depend on it. Only morality in our actions can give beauty and dignity to life. To make this a living force and bring it to clear consciousness is perhaps the foremost task of education. The foundation of morality should not be made dependent on myth nor tied to any authority lest doubt about the myth or about the legitimacy of the authority imperil the foundation of sound judgment and action.”-Albert Einstein

    "Hitherto men have constantly made up for themselves false conceptions about themselves, about what they are, and what they they ought to be. They have arranged their relationships according to their ideas of God, or normal man, etc. The Phantoms of their brains have gained mastery over them. They, the creators, have bowed down before their creatures."

    "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” - John 8:32

    and yes, art of war is fully of great quotes. im surprised it isn't widely studied in high school but we study crap like shakespeare (read 5 or 6 of his books and imo they are the most useless reading ive ever done). people in all fields all around the world read it. even more intriguing when you study little bits and pieces of chinese history.

    julius caesar - men willingly believe what they wish. - imo half of the mind games sun tzu talks about can be summed up by this.

    few other good ones i cant think of atm.

    Love some quotes.

    We're all children, we all need approval. - Jean-Dominique Bauby

    I saw this as an image once and liked it so much I transcribed it onto my facebook page. Because everybody knows, if you think something's cool, the way to show it is to put it on your facebook page. In any case it sums up my philosophy on life pretty well.

    “A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.” -Robert Heinlein

    a lot of people get on ralph waldo emerson's nuts and i dont think he was the greatest writer of all time, but i can always go back to this quote to help me realize or remember what is truly important

    To laugh often and love much:
    To win respect of intelligent people
    And the affection of children;
    To earn the approbation of honest critics
    And endure the betrayal of false friends;
    To appreciate beauty;
    To find the best in others;
    To give one's self;
    To leave the world a little better,
    Whether by a healthy child,
    A garden patch,
    Or redeemed social condition;
    To have played and laughed with enthusiasm
    And sung with exultation;
    To know even one life has breathed easier
    Because you have lived...
    This is to have succeeded.

    the art of war is mostly common sense (but it seems our government does not have any of it)

    jim i am probably totally wrong but i believe gandhi said something similiar to that.

    "The most important thing is to keep the most important thing the most important thing." D. Coduto

    "The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong, it usually turns out to be impossible to get at and repair. "

    There is something to be learned from a rainstorm. When meeting with a sudden shower, you try not to get wet and run quickly along the road. But doing such things as passing under the eaves of houses, you still get wet. When you are resolved from the beginning, you will not be perplexed, though you still get the same soaking. This understanding extends to everything.
    If there is something hipster about unironically defending the validity of discussing Justin Bieber, then I clearly do not know what "hipster" means anymore.
