    Default 5/8 options

Thinking about getting my board in 5/8 and getting a size in which im at the bottom of the weight guideline for so I can still float good and manuevere the bigger board.Or should I just get 3/4 in my regular size? I live in Jersey. Also does 3/4 make the board heavier?

Running faster will solve your floating problem. And use your head. hmmmmm its a thicker board, of course its gonna be heavier, but not by much.

3/4 is slightly heavier, i live in NJ also and i ride an exile small 5/8 works great. i can get away with the 5/8 cause i run pretty fast. if u don't run fast i would go with the 3/4. also what beach do u skim at in Nj if I'm familiar with it i might be able to give u a better opinion on what i think u might want
if you're cool with me I'm cool with you. if u don't like me...idc, I'm just gonna keep skimming

Think about this, get a 5/8 in a fish shape. As a rule fish boards have more planing surface (float) and with the 5/8 thick, your rails will be thinner, which means better holding power and also faster (less drag).

Board weight, at least with Exiles since they are all hand made, varies board to board but not by much. While 3/4" boards would tend to be heavier because of the extra thickness, I don't think it's significant enough for most people to notice (at least for our boards). I don't think that the difference should be a deterring factor on whether to get 5/8" or 3/4". I actually just weighed two identical double carbon fiber boards (one was 3/4" and one 5/8") here at the factory. 5/8" was 4lbs 4oz. or 4.25lbs; the 3/4" was 4lbs 4.8oz. or 4.3lbs...I handle a lot of skimboards, and I could barely tell a difference when they were in my hands!

I didn't think there would be much difference because when you think about it that extra thin piece of foam weighs very little and that little extra glass on the rail wouldn't add much either.
