Any good? someone riding them? They seem very legit
Any good? someone riding them? They seem very legit
no, they aren't legit. Don't buy one. Remember to search, this is another one that has been covered recently
Ok ok , ill use the search , even high end ones?
Are you looking into buying your first board or stepping up to something more advanced?
Steping up. I really want good materials , but frack, everything is to expensive
expensive, but worth it..check the used boards in the for sale sections, you can score some great deals on high end boards! good luck man
edit: shipping might hurt you, but it doesn't hurt to check
I don't get why everyone bashes Wavezone. I have seen many comments refering to their older boards and their beginner boards and I can't comment on them because I have no experience with them. I do have experience and have owned beginner boards from Victoria and Zap and can say without a doubt they are junk compared to a high end board. So should I bash them? Anyway, I have a double carbon Wavezone Stealth and double carbon Exile Hybrid currently. The bottom line on build quality and materials I would have to say I believe the WZ Stealth is a better board. In no way do I feel like the Exile is junk though. I have ridden the WZ quite a bit more and it is in better structural condition. They both have epoxy wear noticable at the bottom rear. They both feel equally rigid. The WZ has less wear on the rails,it has held up better against the shells. The Exile has a small chip or spot of epoxy missing from the top deck and a few small circles that looks like something from the build or lamination process. My brother has a double carbon Vic with a lot of circles different sizes also. He called Victoria and they said it was fine that it won't be a problem. My point is it wasn't there when the boards were new,why should I be ok with it because if nothing else it looks like crap. My stealth still looks new on the deck and it has a lot more use ,what does that mean? Both my boards are 5/8" and it seems there is a more bouyant and lighter foam in the WZ also because it is lighter in weight and floats up to the surface faster than the Exile. Anyway, that's my take on the boards I have. I take both of them when I go and anyone that would like to compare them are welcome to come ride them and check them out next to each other.
Note: My avatar is the Exile and my wife's Zap Large Wedge taken before I got the WZ
Tnk you so much mrnosfl... I know almost everyone in here has more knowledge in boards cuz in my country theres only 2 freaking boards to choose from. But they have given me the oportunity to buy a WZ new n cheap. i searched a lot in here and yes, they only bash WZ cuz of the older crappy models, the extreme that has a ton of rocker. In WZ they point that out and say they dont make em like that anymore. I really cant see how going for a WZ would be bad ( a high end one ) . Its a board! Is somethng so basic. And they make them w the best materials just like any other company also the shapes are the same! . They have videos of kids shredding w them, if u have skill u can shred w a coconut
People bash em cause everyone is bandwagoners. Just because your paying 560 dollars for a board dosnt mean its the best board. Ive had a high end board that i paid over 500 for with pads and it was the worst board ive had. It lasted me 6 months compared to a high end board from a previous company that im still riding and this will be my second year on it. Just my opinion
skeemboarding is funnnnnn
I have owned a WaveZone as a beginning board and it was... ok. It was my first "real" board, I haven't ridden one in about 6-7 years, but I can honestly say I still think (from my observations) that the rocker is still made ridiculous. I saw one kid riding a WZ a year ago and the rocker in it was ra-tar-ded, it would bob up and down before the kid got on the board.
I also know a kid who was even on wavezone dropped them because he rode a Boomhower or something and it was a world of difference.
But to each their own.
Every time I see a wavezone it reminds me of a shotboard surfboard, the crazy rocker, the shape, etc.

This is what they say on their website:
Back in the early ‘90s we had a board, "The Extreme." The Extreme was in demand in the local market and sported a 6"- yes, six inch - rocker. Thinking back on that time - we made good money on the Extreme, Nirvana was an up and coming band, life was good. Things, however, change. If you see the Extreme (can't miss it with that kind of rocker) out there today, it is a true testimony to the life and durability of a Wave Zone skimboard.
Today, the average rocker on a Wave Zone skimboard is 1 1/2" at the nose and 1/2" at the tail.
Why any rocker at all?
Most of us ride in less than perfect conditions… so we need options and we need control.
Wave Zone boards have the right amount of nose rocker to get out to the good stuff. With no rocker, you would simply nose into the mush. Rocker pulls you through a cutback. Coming down the wave rocker will pull you out the bottom. No rocker means you risk slamming the nose into the ground.
Wave Zone also has the ideal tail rocker. Tail rocker works to help you maneuver better. You need a little more rocker in the nose? You simply step or lean toward the tail (like the kick tail on a skate board). You can also go backwards (with talent) and this gives you better control and placement.
Dunno what the measurements of a normal rocker would be... But inch n a half doesnt seem much, Is it?

You should get a coconut.
That dosent sound right, it looks to be much more than that and 'small' rocker is like 2 inches which are on victorias.

from what I've heard (if I'm correct), people dislike wave zones because the company mass produced their boards extremely early in the game..They put out below par boards and people became dissatisfied. Apparently their boards are different now, I don't know..I would rather spend my money on a board that I know is good than spend my money on a board that I heard was better than they used to be..When it comes to my money, I would rather not chance things
Thing is i dont have the money, neither would i have in the future cuz ive just had a baby w my girlfriend and i try to save up as much as i can. Its not that im poor, is that i dont like spending to much money on something not important u know? And i ride this victoria which i love , but keeps breaking down on me ( every freaking time i go skming). Its a 08' ultra vic , glossy.
ultra vacs blow..honestly, skimboarding is skimboarding..if your really set on getting a cheaper board, buy whatever makes you satisfied
In Panama they only sell these.. And shiping a board from usa is very expensive! This sport should grow more outside of the US ..
My brother got one of Wavezone's newer boards about six months ago and he loved it except it got messed up very quickly. Our old Wavezone boards never had any problems before but his board is looking worse than all our other boards which is suprising since it is so new and he has babied it. I like the way it feels and rides but it doesnt compare to my Exile<3
Dude read my posts. If i had the money i would get an Exile carbon costumized no frackin doubt. But .. I live in PANAMA central america, not florida, where theres thousands of skim spots but no decent skimboards what so ever. So , why not order it online? Yeah shipping costs about 200 bucks... Well get a used one. Yeah shiping will costs 300$ (the economy one) ...i know cuz ive tried
Im looking at these triple x skimboards... They are made out of s-glass , epoxy and bamboo. Yeah wtf?... But they cost 160. Anything good to say about these boards ?
I tried a WaveZone a while ago it had horrible rocker but it felt very strong underneath the feet if you know what I mean?
i have a dream... that one day... a wavezone will smash directly into derik kent's balls
I understood what you were saying, that's why I said "it seems". I try not to assume things I don't know for sure. Anyway, you say Exile and carbon WaveZones are sub par boards. Why don't you state your opinion on quality board builders. If you don't have a problem talking down on companies, you shouldn't have a problem stating which ones are "worth" owning.
This thread was started to get opinions and experience on a particular board builder. I simply stated what I have observed. I will take some pice of the Exile Hybrid and WZ Stealth together and post for comparison for anyone interested.
That would be rad
I have one Exile Recruit left in San José. MS pro shape.
Dése la vuelta por CR y se la lleva.
Exile > WaveZone
Here they are. It appears the Exile has more rocker in the nose and the Stealth has a little in the tail. Rails seem to be almost exact as far as slope/shape. The Vic looks like the Stealth in the nose and half way between the two in the tail. Rails also seem to be built the same. The carbon sheets are very different. Exile has large weave and is layed left to right or front to back whichever. WZ and Vic are very similar and have much finer weave and are layed somewhat diagonal. It's hard to see the "circles" because of the wax but they are there.
Only 5 per post,so here are more.
Those are some nice boards. WZ seems quality
their boards look like shit. 2/10 would not ride
I would aspire to be me if I wasn't already
my first real board was a wavezone. they aren't all bad. my friend even rides a full size wavezone and it seems to perform pretty well for him. i switched to zap when i got bigger though but i think there a good beginner board and often their less expensive than zap, victoria or exile
I hate those boards, I really think they are the worst boards out there personally. But then again I guess your skill level might be a factor too. Depends what your looking for, but I wouldn't recomend them.
