Never skim without wax on the bottom of your board. The bottom of a skimboard is really slick, it will slide out from underneath your feet as soon as you drop without wax. I had a couple of friends who broke their wrist because they failed to properly wax their board. Only the top pros ride without wax as you see on videos.

please don't wax the bottom of your board. not everyone here is a dick. i know you are a beginner and probably haven't skimmed that much. but there is no need to do that. If you already have then leave your board in the sun and allow the wax to melt. Using a paper towel clean the wax off the bottom and after that use maybe a cleaning agent to make sure there is no residue left.

Wax only the top of your board.

You can wax the bottom of your board but do it using bowling alley wax, car wax, something like that. Or you can also look at Eelsnot as well.

But please don't wax the bottom of your board with sex wax....but if you do, run REALLY fast and get someone to video it for us, er, you and post it here....

Eelsnot works well, It is easy to apply and protects the bottom of your board. Only negative is it comes off fast like one session, but a little goes a long way with it.

dont wax the bottom the bottom of your board with sex wax, sticky bumps or any other kind of surf wax that provides grip to the top of the board, this will only slow u down, they key in skimboarding is to run fast so u can catch the waves, the only kind of wax that should go on the bottom of your board is speed wax such as eelsnot or car wax, anything else will slow u down

Its kinda like joining a gang. They usually take like 6 or 7 people and beat the shit out of you. if you can hang with it. then your in the gang. SOMB is similar. If you can withstand some of the heat you get from your initial posting and maybe come back with something yourself then your good to go. If you can't hang with it then you either don't post anymore or you don't come to the forums at all. To come on here and ask if you should wax the bottom of your board when you could've easily goggled it is pretty stupid. But hey in hindsight i bet Jackolantern wish he didn't make this thread and he now knows to not wax his board.

It may be mean or being a dick to someone. but in some case's i think it has its purpose.

i personally don't like eelsnot because it doesn't work for sand drops. however, i think i read somewhere that they were aware of this and it's been fixed now.
