    Default california spring break trip

so my dads company is flying us to a resort that happens to be an hour away from all the good spots in Calif. seeing this is a prime opportunity to skim California waves, i want to seize it. i will be able to skim march 25,26,27 most likely. would it be better to borrow/rent a board or bring my own? any help would be appreciated. and i dont care how big it is, im gunna charge.

That's sick! You will probably catch some pretty good waves as this time of year can be really fun. While you won't always get charged board bag fees, often times you do therefore it might be more economical to rent a board when you get out here. At the same time, I think it is nice to have your own board that you're dialed into, especially if the waves are good. With only 3 days to skim you may not want to be trying to figure out a new board (wherever you rent from may not have the exact size/shape/thickness etc... you ride) while trying to make the most of the skim experience.

yeeewwww...If I were you I'd bring my own board just since I know I can skim well on it..hopefully its pretty decent when you come, you can definitely score some great waves compared to florida

bring your own board, look at the airlines policy on skimboards or "speed boards" or whatever they have it labeled as and print it out incase the person at the airport is a dick

dude i cannot wait. i dont wanna pack my own board because it would basically be a pain in the ass. and the thing is oldddd and i can adapt to a new board pretty easily. my mom basically said that she's dropping my ass off at the beach in the morning and i can figure out the rest myself haha.

pick up a skim bag than and you wont have to worry about packing a board. The air plane is a different story but on skimonline "faq" it said to say it is a boogie board.

I definitely wouldn't, but then again, I'm a pussy..It's also been really windy and its raining at the moment, so it'll be that much colder..I'd pack a wetsuit just in case for sure

probably not..I think the weather is calming down a little bit this week so you will probably be fine with just a springsuit

no you are definitely fine. i don't understand people who skim in a full suit, spring suits are just right for skimming in freezing weather.
so what spots are you gonna get to skim?
it's not the board, it's the rider

In my and many other's defense, I like wearing full suits when wind chill is involved, and the water is definitely not incredibley warm in the winter..Plus I don't want to have to spend the money on a spring suit when I already have a full suit that works just fine..In most other cases though, a spring suit or even just a top would definitely suffice.. and thats pretty rad ank, should be pretty fun
