Lightbulb Front side to wave, or Back side to wave?

I have a goofy stance, so hold my board to the left, and also run to the left.

While catching a wave, i ussually have my back to the wave, is there anything wrong with that stance, should i be facing the wave, or is it all preference?

Having your back to the wave is called going "backside" having your stomach to the wave is "frontside". It has no correlation to your stance or how you hold your board, but most people believe going backside is easier because they think that when you go frontside it is easier to lose balance.

No we don't think frontside is harder, we know frontside is harder. Backside wraps are for beginners frontside wraps getting harder. Now frontside lines easier than backside line. You should do both.

Also, turning front-side is harder to wrap a wave.
edit: Damn, I left to feed my cats and came back to 2 new posts that say almost what I said.

im weird, since i skate goofy and skim regular, but for some reason i find frontside wraps alot easier, than backside, but in all honesty just go for whatever works best for you, but sooner or later your gonna want to learn to wrap both directions

i go frontside/backside depending on what way the wind is blowing that day, and am pretty much equally unbalanced either way. :/ backside is far easier to turn though by grabbing a handful of water, so i tend to fall in front of/in the wave rather than behind it when i'm going frontside.
All messed up and slightly twisted.
Am I sick or am I gifted?

many people learning start off with backside because if you need to bail the board is usually not in your way and you just bellyflop onto the face of the wave and bodysurf it in.

a frontside bail you will have to turn your body over not to land on your back and then your board is usually between you and the wave. a good way to have the board be slapped right back at you by the wave and cut you in half.

It's good to be able ride both, as a goofy footer, BS(to the left) and FS(to the right).
