    Default Front foot first?

Ok, well I either have a good or a bad habit of getting on my board with my left foot first (im regular). I think i got it from skateboarding for about 4 years always pushing with my right (back foot) and riding with my front foot it also could be that im left handed but i have no idea. I usually get a good speed going, but i was just wondering if i should work on getting my back foot on first or if it doesn't matter. I was trying to get on back foot first but it felt so weird i couldnt do it. Anyway, should i use or lose this habit?

Also, I was having trouble turning quickly whenever i tried doing some wraps. So its the waves or me, but i guess i just need more practice turning quickly

BTW: I did read/search the forums for BFF vs FFF and in the poll it was 125 for BFF and 90 for FFF so i really dont know.

It's really all preference, I've seen guys rip with FFF, I personally drop BFF. If you're getting good speed while doing it, then I'm sure it's fine.

I used to be FFF, but one day my friends made me learn BFF and I haven't done back since.

i get on FFF and i feel like i get more speed that way cause i push off with my back foot really hard which i dont feel like u can do getting on BFF cause the board will slip out from under you unless you go straight into slip slide maybe

the only down side being my right leg gets super sore from pushing so hard (im regular) and not my left

well bff is much smoother and much more natural of a drop. neither one is better than the other. whichever one feels more natural to you

this topic has been beat to death on here; its not a huge deal but..

but, BFF is pretty much a better drop. no matter what people say, BFF is better. its smoother, looks cleaner, and allows for the least amount of speed lost when getting on the board. if you take the team to learn a quick, one to two step BFF drop, you will not regret it and itll improve your overall skimming.

that being said, a solid FFF isnt that much worse than BFF. its not the end of the world if you drop FFF and you can manage with it.

im sure someone else has a better explanation, but thats the basics of it.

Yeah, i can push off my right foot real hard before my left hits the board which is why i can get the speed probably

Yeah, but another problem i have when dropping, is i tend to slow down a little bit to drop my board on the water then speed up a little bit to get on it

I learned FFF, prob because it helped me hop over the troughy gulf coast slop that I learned on.

Looking back I wish I would've learned BFF, but I got my FFF down pretty smooth, and I can drop at a full sprint and maintain most of my speed so I'm pretty happy. I could care less how pretty my drop looks.

I do BFF.....that being said, I think as long as your getting on at full speed in one step that's still good.

Check out the goofy-foot guy, he gets on FFF and it works good for him. And at #206 see how far out he gets. He could get out farther than the BFF guy.

Jim that water is clearly quite slippery it has nothing to do with BFF or FFF.

If you're talking to me ^, I shot that with an early 80's VHS camera that I rented for $50 a day. Back then they held a full size VHS tape and looked like a news camera. It was the first time I had ever used a video camera, so that's why at the end you only see the ground. Also I didn't know the camera was still on.

I had the same question one year ago...reading skimonline I decided to switch to bff....I broke my ankle switching ....then after recovery I keep learning the bff...riding one year in bff...but never feel comfotably in this...maybe because the accident I felt afraid...I dont know...maybe is a individual case....later one day I try fff again....I felt very good recovery my old level of my skim....right now i keep in FFF is my natural drop and don't go against the tide....repeat is only my case

Well my natural / comfortable drop is FFF just from skateboarding. If you trying skating mongo, that would probably really help learning BFF (if you dont live really close to a beach, like me)
