So my friend thinks that since i have a navy blue bottom color that my board is slow... I don't know where he got this information but im just trying to verify that red and white bottoms arent "faster" skimboards.

It's an ongoing joke that red is faster. Use your head, and I'm sure you'll find out that navy blue is faster.
i have a red bottom and ive been injured for a few weeks now
Yeah, the red pigment in the resin makes the bottom more slippery than any-other color. Red FTW!
Edit: More info. The most emotionally intense color, red stimulates a faster heartbeat and breathing. Which = more speed and we all know speed is everything when skimming.
If you believe this, I have some swap land I'll sell you.

yea i started off with a blue board to get used to skimming. you know, didnt want to be going too fast and fall and hurt myself. now that im done with that board with one of the norms.
if you want a red board, make sure you get a red top and offset it with a norm color on the bottom!
unless youre just a badass, then go all red.
watch the moving bodies as they react to the sound
I'm currently riding a yellow bottomed Dude!Cruise and find even that is almost TOO fast. I would avoid any colors such as Red/Orange/Yellow if you want to have an injury free skimboarding experience.

Why is everyone so afraid of going fast???

A few years ago this legendary shaper experimented in his mom's basement, formulating a precise combination of pantone colors on the bottom of his board. A hush went over the beach as he prepared to test his theories. The local fire truck was on the scene, but sadly the board exploded upon impact with the water and no trace of him was ever found. Kids, research your color combos, your life may depend on it!
while some of these guys just sound like they are joking around, red really is serious business.
such serious business that it even spills over into other sports. there is a reason the guy in red wins more often than the guy in blue:

I cant even tell if this is all BS because some people seem so legit? why would it matter i dont understand the color in relation with the speeds?
Spray paint over your navy bottom with red paint and your speed problem will be solved.
this is the reason i am always full mast when i skim a red boardHill and Barton got the idea for their study study out of a mutual interest in the evolution of sexual signals in primates—"red seems to be the color, across species, that signals male dominance and testosterone levels," Barton said.
