Getting a new Shortbus soon. I'm getting a 52" regular shape but I'm not sure if I want 5/8 or 3/4 tapered to 5/8. I'm 160lbs, what do you guys think?
I would do 3/4 if not a little bigger board. 52 seems on the smaller side of your weight limit
hows my posting?
Let me know 954 - 805-6715
im ~140 and am happy with my 52.75. feels jussssst right.

Shortbus has a weight chart. I'm 160lbs. Do you think a 51" 5/8 fish will be good?
Not all fish are the same, some have a narrow nose and tail. And some brands are wide and they round the end of nose a lot, so it measures a lot shorter than it really is.......get it? Also don't forget rocker, each company puts in different kinds of rocker (more rocker = quicker turning, but slower). Now if you have a board with lots of rocker you can over come the lack of speed by side-slipping. When you add every little thing up it = a big difference. The only real way to tell if you're going to like a board is to try one.

Anyone have an opinion on the vic poly's? Or the plane wrap ex with this new dynamic rocker?
I usually ride a medium exile hybrid, so how do these boards ride different?

Thinking about getting exile recruit or E-glass... My weight 136, beginner, what will be better MS size or ML?(shop don't have M)
ML would be huge, go with the MS
I would aspire to be me if I wasn't already
wow, a new member actually used this thread..+1...are you ordering it directly from exile? or from a retailer near your location? you could find a medium if you ordered it from exile, but if your going to stick with a MS or ML you should take a few things into consideration..are you a fast runner? are the conditions that you skim considered good? you'll want a slightly smaller board if you skim heavier conditions and you are a fairly fast runner, or a larger board if you are a little slower or a little inexperienced and the conditions you skim are a little on the weaker side..Exile has pretty good weight recommendations, so you should try to order a board that is right around your weight range (unless you want to use your own experiences to help you buy a board that will fit your style of riding, wich a lot of good riders do)
toe-gaff
How long have you been skimming?
What board(s) have you owned prior?
Where and how often do you skim?
answer these and I can help
This is what zaps bio says about the comp board:
"The Comp is our standard, tried and true, high performance shape. It is the most neutral design in our high-end line up. Being that it doesn’t favor any particular riding style, like the pro models and specialty shapes, the Comp is a great board that any rider can benefit from. It is the preferred shape by some of our team riders."
I actually think comps are good boards and it will last you a while. Since you are new it may be a tad difficult for you since it isn't a beginning board. BUT if you plan on skimming that much, the board will be at able to keep up with your progression level, unlike if you were to get a chizel or wedge, those are strictly beginning boards. Either way if you choose to go down a skill level and go with a zap chizel or wedge the comp will be a good board. Zaps a great company so you're going to get quality no matter what type of board you choose.
Lastly, it I was you I would consider going down a board skill level just because you are brand new, but I don't think you will be disappointed if you do go with the comp.

Hello, I'm looking to get started. I weigh somewhere in the region of 105 lbs. I will be skimming frequently this summer, maybe 3 or 4 days a week. I will be skimming on a variety of beaches, but mainly one that has a smaller swell but lots of waves rolling in from a distance(maybe 3/4 tapered to 5/8?). Being has I'm only getting in to the sport I don't want to spend a lot af money. It would be good if I could buy in Europe.
Thanks in advance.
