how much do you want to spend vic makes a flat land board which will be good for sand skimming but try to get a wave riding board. It is a lot more fun than riding the shore line. If you want i have a vic foamie for 100.

if all you want to do is sandskim then any wood board from publix or walmart will be fine.
if you are trying to float out to waves and ride them, then you'll start needing a foam core board.
that's not to say you can't ride waves with a wood board though....
Then I would say.....Ha,ha,ha

If you're a serious sand skimmer and money isn't a real issue, DB Skimboards is your best place to start looking. http://dbskimboards.com/boards/ All their boards are really high quality maple and glide like a dream.
You"re other option would possibly be Victoria's Matrix http://victoriaskimboards.com/boards/matrix.php or Victorias cheaper cousin, the traditional woody http://victoriaskimboards.com/boards/woody.php
Hope this helps you out a bit and points you to some sort of direction...
Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! I know! I know! J Gordan Skimboards makes good wood skimboards!
