Default Buying a new board soon

I have no price limit. I am 5'6 128 lbs and was looking for a top of the line board I looked at a boomhower from skim city used has pads no propel bottom a couple scratches on nose and tail with a pressure ding on the bottom for 200. Does that sound like a good deal? What does the propel bottom do and are there any other boards you guys reccomend

Are you looking for a new or used board.

Edit: The propel bottom was a big hit here awhile ago. I think I read that it scratches off when running over rocks, maybe that's why we don't hear about it anymore. Anyone else hear this?

go to skimcity.com and if you cant find a board there go on craigslist or ebay and if you find a board you like Private message me and I will tell if if it is a good idea to buy, because people on craigslist sell a lot of crappy and dinged up skimboards.
It isn't new it is used

If you have no price limit, go for a nice new board. Like a carbon, also get a fish shape too.

why a fish shape? seems like it would be frustrating to learn on when doing wraps?

Maybe you could visit your local surf shop and see what they offer. You usually can save money if you buy local. Seems like everyone wants to go on-line or buy direct from the manufacturer and pay retail when most shops will offer a locals discount.

having ridden a smetts model for the past 7 months i can say a normal shape wraps much easier. if you want a more stable board get a normal hybrid shape or a stander comp shape

well as a beginner i wouldn't want something that wraps "nice" hell any board can wrap "nice" i would want a board that would be easy to learn on.

i would suggest the normal shape over the boom for learning on. and skim city is the closest place to go for boards.

Well stability is more important then wraping for a beginner so over all fishes are better for learning.

The boom is still a normal shape even though its pointy, just like slotsticks are more pointy but are still considered normal shape.
