Those textured epoxy Zaps look tempting. You really can't go wrong with either.

Depends on the waves your local break gets, mushy or really walled? Small or really big? The smaller and mushier go towards the boom. The bigger and more walled up go towards the exile. This is just from personal experience however, if you want one more than the other then get the one you want more.
get the boom

or if you still got mooshy waves, go with a hybrid exile

I just recently bought a new board. After buying boards for over 20 years i have become very peticular. I will say.. Both boards are exceptional in shape and quality. However I will say that Boomhower has a nack for shaping over teh exile pro. His boards are truly amazing. What you want to truly look for is shape first. If you know your riding style then buy a shape that fits your style. DONT let anyone persuade you against what you "feel". Anyway, I say Boom!
Haha seriously guys lighten up..You really take things too seriously

My opinion may also be a little biased, but I would argue that Exile's perform just as well on the east coast as the west coast.
Riders on our boards last year captured:
3 of the top 4 spots in Vilano
2 of the top 4 at Southside
2 of top 4 at OBX
This is slightly better than exile did at cabo, aliso, and balboa last year.
Granted, most of this is the rider, not the board. But consider that these riders can choose any board in the world to ride. Anyone will sponsor them. They choose to ride an exile.
Thats not to take anything away from Zap or the boom board. Plenty of people seem to like em', and if thats what you choose more power to you. I just simply want to offer that the idea that Exile's are a west coast board is certainly debatable.
I will say that the most important thing is choosing a board that is the right size/shape/thickness for your ability, conditions and weight. And thats irregardless of brand.
Also, we have experience making Carbon Epoxy boards since 1991 and have possibly made more of them than every other manufacturer in the world, combined...

Niether: If you are looking at those two brands, you should probably get a 3/4 carbon hybrid exile. the pro shape is made to ride big CA sider breaks like wedge, West Street, Aliso when its breaking, Mexico cabo sider. The hybrid will be better for the waves you're riding in FL especially if you go with 3/4 thickness.
I dont think there is a real difference between East and West coast boards. Any company can make a board for your conditions. best not to go ordering away and waste money before you talk to the rep about the types of conditions you ride first. Then they will be better able to help you choose the board thats right for you and create a better experience for you in the long run.

This can't be understated. Getting proper advice as to exactly what board is right for you is critical to your happiness with it. If you want to get an exile, Steve and Hank are there for ya via email, phone or facebook. If you want a Zap, I am sure they will also give ya the best advice possible on their product.![]()

But then my children, the big bad wolf huffed, and puffed and tried to blooooow the pigs house in!!!! But this little piggy made his house from brick, for which the wolf cannot blow down, because its walls are so sturdy and thick! So it looks like the modest little pig out smarted the wolf again, because his great craftsmanship would not let the wolf in! The wolf is tricky, trying to bait the piggy into his snare, but the piggy is laughing, for he does not care! So listen little children, do not let this story fall on deaf ears, for the wolf is blowing at that which he fears.![]()
