It was great for the first hour, after that the sandbar came out and it sucked. But for a while if you just walked down the beach past the surfers for Christ it was knee high wraps when it was bad everywhere else. A huge school of baitfish was out too. Plus when I went to get a shirt they had one left, the guy was about to hand it to me then a little girl walks up and asks for it.. Of course she got it..

the people whop do laybacks call them that because they cant only on to their boards during their spray
if someone can pull themselves back from a layback then that would be cool
but i have yet to see it

Yeah he fell, it still looked cool, I've seen some people pull up from laybacks.

i've seen several people pull themselves back up from laybacks, dirtnap. mostly pros, but it's definitely been done.

haha, I don't get the big red thing, because I'm only 5'7 and 115lbs.

Not sure on the nubmer of people, it looked like a lot, and I didn't stick around to see the winners because the contest turned into a shuv-it fest after the tide went out.

i'm assuming you mean completely surf style, as in almost if not completely on their back and then standing back up...i've seen morgan do it in person, that's the one that sticks out in my mind right now, anyways.

with enough wave power it's definitely more possible, but it's quite possibly one of the toughest things to pull off, i think.

my opinion:

morning was barely fun, and it was very shitty after wards from like 12 on. also when you judge and someone does a trick dont give them an 8 if they do the same thing again.

all in all, 5 out of 10

the really layback
but i see how some would be able to do it but not many
youd have to really stay back on your tail edge all the way through the turn

You make it seem as if we dont get waves. Because if im thinking correctly the past few contests this few months have been bigger than that. East coast isnt always that small, maybe certain areas but vero and up to like melbourne it always seems good. Especially Seb and Vero

on the contest -- the jr. mens winner was ryan spinelli and the mens winner was richie dereo (not sure on the spelling). richie also won the superman contest with like 7 supermans. ill post pics soon.

this is what it looks like when someone can do a lay back and actually stand back up. you can tell the difference in board control in a photo.
