    Default newer syndromes

about them, how much different are they, my one is older and its 1/2 inch thick, how bout the new ones, they're 5/8 inch thick. Also do they do that browning color thing on the nose still? Are they a little bit heaveir or are they just as light as the older ones?

the rails have never been 1/2'' thick, always 5/8'' thats just rumor i suppose, but trust me the newer full rail boards are very fast and have so much pop its rediculous.

well why are they considered to be so thin if Exile and other brand companies have used 5/8" all the while?

The boards have always used 5/8" thick foam. Some people thought they were thinner because the rails were planed down so much, but the board thickness in the center has always been 5/8".

I posted this a couple weeks ago on another thread:

"Yeah, the older boards (shaped last year) were pretty thin in the rails. The boards were still 5/8" thick in the center, but we were planing the rails down and tapering them a lot more. This really increased the hold down the line, but did take some getting used to.

Since then, the newer boards have much fuller rails. They're still not completely boxy, so the feel down the line is pretty much the same, but the ride in general is a lot more forgiving. We've learned that you can still get that grippy line hold without going crazy with rail taper. I think this fuller rail takes away a lot of the "learning curve" that some people notice. Basically, you don't have to be an "expert" just be able to get on the board.
