seriously though, if I was throwing a party and wanted some dance music, I would put on Caribou's Swim. It's fully danceable but intricate and cerebral at the same time. More musical integrity than 99% of dance music you're gonna find, but without being overindulgent. Your guests will be dancing their asses off while pondering the mysteries of life. And the people that aren't dancing won't be sitting there thinking "jesus christ I wish they'd turn this fracking shit off"

Quote from Dan Snaith (a.k.a. Caribou) : "In pre-release interviews for Swim, Snaith has indicated that, as per the album's title, he has been inspired by water: its movement and fluidity, which he has aimed to capture: "Dance music that sounds like it's made out of water rather than made out of metallic stuff like most dance music does."

    Seriously:

Just watch this vid if you want proof of its danceability (this is exactly what your party will look like)

Actually what am I thinking? Yes, Swim is in my opinion the best album of 2010, and one of the best albums of this decade, but there is one album I always said I'd play if I ever had a party. The entire thing flows seamlessly, no breaks, it's one big party for the full length of the disc. Pitchfork gave it a 9.5 and listed it as #10 on their top 200 albums of the 2000's.

The Avalanches - Since I Left You

here's a vid, though you really have to hear the whole album to hear how it flows, it's amazing

This is pretty much the set that swedish house mafia plays at their concerts. Download a dope set from EDC or something, and just let it play. The DJs already flowed it together for you, so you dont have to worry about picking a new song.
