    Default Skim TV

I know they have skim vids on FSM but someone should def. talk to MTV or something and get a skimboarding show or documentary goin...Most people think skimboarding is just sliding around on sand, so I think it would be much needed publicity. It would show everyone how cool skimboarding is...I keep hearing rumors of a show called "Go Fearless" thats supposed to show up on MTV or something soon, I've even seen the trailer...looks sick, but I still haven't seen it air on tv...Idk, maybe someone down at exile or vic could work somethin out with a TV channel...It would definitely bring in more business for the major companies

fuel would be sick...they cover so much on surfing I think people would be stoked to see how much skimboarding is like surfing and so many other sports combined instead of the gay stereotype people give skimboarding

i think if fuel did a firsthand on a pro, that could potentially open the door for skimming on fuel. i mean they cover wakeskating which i find to not be that great to watch, so there is a chance lol

You kids are so cute with all of this talk about "exposing skimboarding" for how cool it really is, blah, blah, blah -- it sure is about time. I mean, I'm sure every skim-generation has to go through this before they realize it's pointless. X-games, fuelTV, etc -- we've all been there. Old horse. I guess I shouldn't interupt then...

Look, skimboarding is a lot like extreme off-road unicycling. A few people make it look bad-ass and cool as shit, but for the most part it's fracking lame and noone really gives a shit. So go out there and have fun skimming!

I've discussed this with some people at Fuel TV and they just aren't interested in skimboarding. The market is so small compared to other sports. They'd rather air hot air balloon racing or something.

If I remember correctly there was coverage of the Vic on fuel TV like 7 years ago...I think George Bryan was a contributing videographer...I think it was the year Stanaland won.

correction. I said it looks stupid. 95% of skimboarding is little kids and douche bags sliding around and falling. Do you think that looks cool?

The skimboarding that I love is really awesome and much more fun than anything else in my life... unfourtantly thats the 5%

Don't waste thread time and space if you don't want to take the time and read what people are actaully saying.

You could be more specific next time, but I was referring to Tweak's comments. Chill out buddy before you attack the wrong person...

skimming just doesnt need to be on tv. if you enjoy doing it then why do you care if others know what it is or not. i mean it would be awsome to have a decent show on fuel tv but its highly unlikely that that will happen

I think it is perceived that way by many, but unjustly so. Every sport looks lame on average. Average surfing is fracking lame. Guys out at ____ on a 3 foot mushball day paddling for and usually not catching waves. When they do, pumping along with all the style of a helmet wearing retard.

But thats not what people think of when they think surfing. They dont think of what surfing actually is to the vast majority of people, they think about what they have seen on TV and in the media. Thats surfing.

With skimboarding, most people think its the thing they see at their local beach. They havent even seen any skim media most of the time, and when they did odds are it wasnt that impressive (not as it should be).

In panama city a guy walks into a surf shop. He sees a surfboard for sale and associates it with laird hamilton at Teahupoo. He sees a skimboard and associates it with the kid he just saw at the beach sliding on the sand.

    Thats the problem.

I dropped off stimulus at the surf shop (Emerald City the Board source) that flows me
and every single surfer in there was like " wow, thats skimboarding"
no joke, even the owner of the shop was blown away so if you expose the wright media people would respect and want to skimboard

EXACTLY. Happens every time I show anyone my skim DVD collection. 3 friends of mine now have boards once they saw what skimming really was...

    AP said it.

But whose to say with all the improvements of technology in the sport (carbon fiber, better shape designs and availability of high end boards) the general perception of skimming can change?

Im not saying this is true im asking a question.

Pro Only tour? Why not just run the Pros on Friday and see how that works. I think if you have a pro only event you would have very few spectators. I think you would find that most of the spectators now are friends and families of the amateurs.

Yeah when you show people whats up, they get a different view of certain things. Like skimming for instance, or skiing or rollerblading. Except I feel like, I show someone a video, their minds are blown, then they forget for the most part.
