WAZZZZUPPP NI99AZ! took a little hiatus but I'm back. went on a little road trip, working, producing. I had to come back to by SOMB producer/DJ bretheren. How y'all been??? shoot me some of y'all's new tunes. Now that I'm back and graduated, I'm in that "find a job/temporary vacation" zone right now AKA ableton time

In the meantime, hit the relax button on this saturday morning and cheeeel to some tunes: http://soundcloud.com/ic3burglm/sets/downtempo-grooves/

Nice tracks Nate. I'm about to buy a Traktor Kontrol S2. I don't know if I should go used and get one off ebay or spend a little more and get one new? There's one on eBay for 380$ thats in good conidtion but I almost feel like itd be better to spend a little more and get one on amazon for 500$. Any advice?

I hate this thread. no one looks at it anymore.inb4 you post too often.

And that track may have been a bit too chilled out for my mood right now, melo! I'll listen tomorrow morn.

Hey guys so a couple things. What's the best software to use for recording? I'm currently using Audacity with a Samson go-mic and/or a Samson R21. Both of which are pretty crappy but it gets the job done. Just for layering my vocals on top of instrumentals. I have a version of what I've been working on which sounds so weird. I don't know how to play around with the levels of volume or effect. I feel like my voice sounds too static.

Secondly, my band recently landed a spot in a Battle of the Bands at school and the equipment list they have is as follows:
    2 EAW FR159z
    2 way full range speaker (15" and 1") 500W
2 Ultimate TS30B Speaker stand (75 lbs max)
    1 Yamaha EMX5000 12ch 500w
    6 Shure PG58 dyn card with on/off
    1 ipod / laptop cable
    6 MC-040 40' microphone cable
    2 NL4-060
    NL4 Speaker Cable 60'
6 Atlas MS12 Mic Microphone stand
1 AC Quad Box-020 20' AC with Quad box, edison plugs
    1 AC-050 50' AC cable, edison plugs
4 RCI Boom - Black, Short
    2 piece boom arm

I have no idea what half of that stuff is but it looks like there are only 2 speakers? We are a rock band with 2 guitarist a bass player and drums. It doesn't look like it will be enough to make us loud enough. Doesn't even look like they have stuff to mic the drums. So I told my guitarists to bring their own amps and hopefully we can mic those but I'm stuck and with little knowledge of this stuff. Any help or advice appreciated and I will rep.

bought new stuff! and yeah man absynth is cool. get sylenth too if you can but honestly understanding massive is the first steps. also ableton's own operator and analog are pretty versatile.

yeah I've played with analog and operator a decent amount, I can't really figure out how to make anything sound good on them. so far all I'm using from operator is sub bass and an 808 kick I learned how to do from a tutorial. I have sylenth too and it's just way easier to get something sounding good on it. massive seems to be the easiest interface though, I think I'll read the PDF to try and learn it. how'd you learn it?

melo that Phantogram remix is so sick

tutorials help but honestly a lot of it is just trial and error. Learning waht everything does and why its there really really helps.
