I don't know much about komplete, but if you're willing to drop $400+ I'd seriously consider doing some extensive research on it, along with some other DAWs, such as Reason 5, ProTools, etc...

    I just bought Komplete 7 for 375 at audiomidi.com.

    I cannot fracking wait.

Komplete is epic. It's not a daw, it's a bunch of virtual instruments and effects. 90 gigs of samples and more than 10,000 sounds. It comes iwth a 60 dollar voucher for their store as well. I'm thinking about alicia's keys. idk.

ya ive been trying to torrent it...its taking fracking forever and there are so many errors and shit. i already have massive, battery, and FM8, but i feel like getting komplete would be so much better. when you get it let me know if its worth it...

Sounds like it's got potential man, really good for your first track in Ableton. work on mixing in/out your synths so the transitions aren't so abrupt, but I dug the overall house/IDM/gameboy feel. try throwing an auto-pan on some of those synths. get that shit swirling around peoples heads

edit: also go to the audio effects folder -> audio effects rack -> and use the instrument & drum processing parameters they have, along with the mastering folder. there is a bunch of shit in there that you can use to fine tune your kicks, snares, etc... and maybe throw a limiter on the master track

thanks for the tips melo! definitely will look into that. I definitely want to refine kicks and yeah the transitions are missing some stuff I've yet to put in. glad you dig it though. its nice to be making music again.

youtube or just frack around with it.

I just teach myself most things and then go online if I hit a stump. I guess if you have no prior experience with programs like this it might be kinda tough

i like that one but i feel like for $50 more you get more faders and 2 times as many keys, and i use both. i tried my friends mpk and it was sick, but i felt like it was too small, and i missed the faders

hey melo (and anyone else), think it'd be smart to grab some cdjs for turntables and a legit mixer? I ask because the places I'm looking at dj-ing at all use the pioneer cdj system. I know you can bring your own system to some of the places but I'm kind of in the market for a newer one, especially after christmas (not presents but work makes 2x as much$$ holidays) plus this would be an investment that would pay for itself eventually

ive heard great things about the cdjs, but not having any experience i wouldn't have a preference. If you don't get answers here goto a guitar store or some music store and they will be able to give you the answers that you need

I've used cdj before so I'm kinda know what I'm getting into. I just feel like it'd be a lot smarter to just go ahead and get good at cdj systems if I'm going to have to use them in the future

Thinking about making another youtube video over this winter break. Any suggestions for the video? Should I just show how I made a certain song that I made, show how to make a certain style of song(i.e. Hardwell style, Afrojack style, prog house), etc. I'm open to anything because I'll have a lot of free time starting friday. House only though. Not really feeling dubstep/dnb recently.

yessss guize me too. Prog house or just some trashy house. really digging it. I might make a hard banger electro song next...

on the note of the cdjs thing... maybe I should just save up for vestax 300? actually, yes thats what i'll do. seems liek it'd fit my style and/or usage. small gigs or small club type deals.

hmmm actually my numark omni is like a faux vestax and I love it, personally. I'll nut up and grab some cdjs once I'm a big boy dj.

since sleep is not an option, I will be making abother song instead of/ maybe finishing my first one.

this is my friend's podcast, 'iClub'. it fluctuates between 5th and 10th on the itunes top house podcasts lists, recently above armin van buren's 'state of trance'

    http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/iclub/id317125603

there's a new episode every 2 weeks and each one is about an hour of mixed house music. pretty incredible.

    yar,
I've been meaning to post in this thread for a while. Anyone else use fruity loops? I have some questions about the newest version. I use fl studio exclusively but I don't use any of their shit. I always sample my own kick, hihat, snare and the whole nine yards. I just use it for sampling and arrange and I use the mixer once a track is all done. Also, I only have the demo so I can't save. I leave the computer on for days on end trying to complete a song. Sometimes the wife turns it off and kills hours of work, so I beat her. My computer got gay so I restored it but all my beats and the individual wave tracks within the the beats aren't in the back up. They're lost forever. Hundreds of hours.
I found a couple videos that have some songs and I have an older myspace play list with like five songs or so.
I think turkey sub and rob morris might still have a discography disc, I hope.

    Here's what I gots left:
    Tardo vid w/ Sophistakidz

    Sophistakidz Playlist

    Who knows FL 9?
    I have questions

I do, and it is def. worth it. if you can't use sampler, operator, etc...you aren't even really using ableton. at least torrent them
