So i really want to improve my skimming. (especially after all the talent i saw at OBX) and i think monkey crawl might help. Any tips to learning it? how does it work basically?

best way is to watch someone in real life do it. there really is no other way.
Are you ever in Delaware?
Usually on Monday nights (summer) they have a free skim jam in Bethany Beach 6-7pm. Main Beach. Sponsored by Bethany Surf Shop, Harvest Skimboards and PiLE Magazine!!!
One of the instructors is Bill Baxter and Old School monkey crawler, he can teach you some things.
Yeah I want to learn monkey crawl to, and I was at obx to, what board do you ride?
Shortbus Skimboards
No i live in NC but that would of been perfect visitor.
Anyone on here do it? or alternate?

honestly, u dont need to learn monkey crawl
Team Skim Team- token black rider
learn to deep water drop instead, thats the only thing i can think of that monkey crawlers have an advantage over most other skimmers. but it seems like it makes it harder to do things like tech out to the wave

it helps in the wind.. sure kick sand on your board but in heavy wind its still really hard to perfectly one step at a full sprint.. monkeycrawl could be a good tool to have once u already can one step and deep water drop
yeah monkey crawl helps in the wind alot. i try to learn it when the waves suck or im just messing around. its not that hard
