Hey guys, so I'm picking up this car today and I was wondering if anyone on here owns one or knows anything about them. I went through quite a few options (G35's,etc) before I settled on it. I really like it. I don't want to get back into racing & tuning. Too old for that. I want to make it classy, not assy. So I was hoping you guys could offer advice on simple mods & nice rims.

for sound system. look into the Focal K2P series speakers for sound quality, some alpine digital PDX amp, alpine monitor for the dash(best for controlling ipod/iphone on the market), maybe a small JL sub 10' ported for fill.... OH and make sure to gut the car when you get it and line the entire car with dynamat! (sound deadening)

if your getting this car..... at least do a CAI. its worth it at least for gas mileage.

I had an 03 that i took to the limit with NA mods. Awesome cars.

What year is the one you are looking at? There are some pretty significant engine changes between the model years.

Dont do the nismo wheels.. Be different from everyone else... Keep it mostly stock as those cars are meant for power and performance right off the bat. I worked for Nissan and Infiniti for quite a bit and know almost everything there is to know about these cars.. You picked the better car of the 2 with the 350 instead of the g35... The car is amazing for letting the traction control off and letting the frontmidship engine platform put proper weight distribution from the front to the back. Let it eat and slide it sideways when your not being classy.. What color did you get? I suggest a darker wheel unless you are doing a brake conversion because the brake dust really makes the shiny wheels look like shit from these cars.

Dale, I like your style.

Well, I just picked it up and drove it from St Pete back to work here in Trinity. This thing is butter. So fast. So clean.

I got a candy red 2006 350z. It has 40k miles on it. I got it from the original owner & the only reason she got rid of it was because she lost her job, has been unable to get a new one and she needs to keep her house. Her husband was a mechanic so that's a bonus & it still has a few things under warranty (ex. tires). Got it for $13k. STEAL!

I'm so stoked. I used to be into tuning Hondas & other ricers, like crazy. So I have a great comprehension on things you can do to cars. I'm just out of touch a little and don't want to go crazy again. That's why with this car, I plan to take it easy and just do some simple mods.

THIS IS MY CAR

HERE ARE SOME STYLES I LIKE...

I like these SSR Professor SP1 rims. Dale what size do you think these are & what is the max I can go to get a nice flush look, not much gap and possibly do the offset rear to front? 20's?

and I generally just like the styles of all of these (the red one is too much for what I will be doing, but it's still nasty)

Boyschoir thanks for the advice. That is crazy that you used to work for them. I was so torn between the G & this car. I actually do want to get a nice set of rotors & brakes. That will probably be the last thing I do. Currently, this is the order I plan to do everything in. I plan to have all of these things done in the next 3-6months.

> Tint (may tint the lights too)
> Radio
> Eyelids
> Wheels 19' or 20's (thinking black chrome like those SSR's)
> Springs only if I need them after the wheels
> Small wing
> Brakes & Rotors

so mostly cosmetic stuff. But you can see I still want it somewhat stock looking. Nothing too racy.

You might know about this but check out www.cardomain.com and look at the 350z's on there. I am all for originality and coming up with your own ideas but this can give you some place to start. I have always found great ideas on here. Good luck and sweet car!

staggered 20's most people a rice 5spoke wheel

when u buy wheels you get what ya pay for

you will spend around 2-3k for a nice set of staggered 20's

tint it 15% all the way around

intake and full exhust to make it sound nice and deep

not a cat back

headers and full exhust

please dont do black wheels.

that shit is so played out its not even funny

get chrome if your going to buy wheels.

is it automatic?

Go 5% IMO. I use to do 15% on my past vehicles then I went to 5 and will never go back. 15 is already illegal (at least in California) might as well go to 5 lol. (Obviously I am talking fronts too)

i wanted 5 in my car but everyone i talked to said to get 15 to avoid the risk of being pulled over. Its plenty dark at night but in the day you can still see in. Ill probably get 5 in my next car and maybe like 45 on my windshield? idk

Step #1: Don't take any advice from Ken.

Step #2: Don't get 20's (why not stick with something lighter like a good 18? Never understood increasing rotational mass on a sports car).

I don't know the rest of the steps...just start from there.

Yes I was talking about the whole windshield at 45% but just do what you are comfortable with.

As far as alarms I put alarms with auto start on my past two trucks. First I put a Clifford Alarm which is now equivalent to their 3.3X then I installed a Viper 5901. (These were both on Toyota Tacomas) Overall I liked the Viper more because of the LCD screen on the remote, you can always be assured that you locked your car and will never have to run back to double check. Also the distance seemed much better on the Viper.

They are pretty pricey for the retail cost and so is the installation. I paid an additional $200 to have mine installed and that was a good price. I don't recommend trying it yourself but that is totally up to you...

Also on installation ... be sure you take it to a reliable place. I have heard horror stories of people shorting out the electrical wiring in their vehicle and frying all the wiring, resulting in a nice long stay in a repair shop and thousands of dollars of work.

yeaa thats the only thing about 5 im kinda worried about. Now with 15, if im in a dark dark neighborhood it can be pretty tough for me to see out of my windows, like im looking for a house or something.

Yeah 45 is not very dark at all. I personally have never done anything more than an upper strip on the front but plenty of my friends have done the whole thing. Many tint shops have pre tinted glass for you to see the shade, bring that out in the sun and you can judge it from there.
