this is really annoying me. i'll go frontside on a wave, cutback/slash it, but then my board always goes flying out from under me because it doesnt dig into the wave. anybody know what i could do to help this?

you may be leaning to far back.....

Seconded. I had (and still have) the same problem as the OP, but I know when I make a strong conscious effort not to lean too far my front side wraps work and the board doesnt fly out from under me. Also, I suggest trying to do some rail grabs, as that is what also really helped me get the right mind set.Originally Posted by Walruz996

You can slide you front foot a lil closer to the inside rail (this is a lil tricky if your still starting out) before you start to cut or you can spin you tail around to the lip and come back down the line backside. It all takes time and practice.

If you have Beard-ed try watch Andy Chia's part, how he grabs the rail (like what Dzan said). I find it's much easier to find out how to balance my weight when I grab the rail. I'm no where near perfecting them, but its definitely been a big help in getting me there.

i would suggest hitting the wave a little later, so that there is more of a vertical face.
i would suggest being chia
something that really helped me was really push with your back foot into the wave face and it lets you do whatever you want with your front foor whether you want to wrap all the way back around or just slash into a fs liner or something.
also,
id really like to see thatYou can slide you front foot a lil closer to the inside rail (this is a lil tricky if your still starting out) before you start to cut or you can spin you tail around to the lip and come back down the line backside. It all takes time and practice.
Just go backside...
good point

Same sort of thing happens to me every now and again, but it has been from me when I pushed too far back the board would fly out, but usually when I know its gonna happen I just shoot it out from under me on purpose as hard as I can as long as no one's in the water next to me..
my problem is turning towards the wave as I approach, hitting it from a more perpendicular angle, which requires more rotation to get the line (or wrap, w/e). In trying to correct for this my arms are often flailing a bit. My frontside skimming & backside skimming are like night & day.
just try going to the wave at more of an angle until you get used to makeing frontside turns cause thats what i did and it worked for me.
go surfing. do alot of roundhouse cuttys . then try on your skim B
someone wrap a wave frontside into a backside liner? no. if you know of a place, tell me about it.Originally Posted by Walruz996
skimboard more.
yeah that's what's frustrating, with surfing, frontside is way easier, but w/ skimming, I can't seem to translate the motions unless I can manage to get going down the line, then I'm fine. It's that initial turn that's the problem.Originally Posted by pete a
yea cause u got no fins on a skimboard, and Walruz find the name of that beach cause i havent senn anything like that

well believe it or not i think they dont, or it might just be me
I think by wrap frontside and ride the wave backside he meant hit the wave frontside then go down the line backside. Like chias big wraps in bearded.

i dont remember those either but ill watch it again soon and check it out
I really don't understand how you can not know about that. It's the exact same thing as a backside wrap except reverse. On a backside wrap you come back down the line frontside.
