    2. Mental problems and suicide. Some patients, while taking Accutane or soon after stopping Accutane, have become depressed or developed other serious mental problems. Symptoms of these problems include sad, "anxious" or empty mood, irritability, anger, loss of pleasure or interest in social or sports activities, sleeping too much or too little, changes in weight or appetite, school or work performance going down, or trouble concentrating. Some patients taking Accutane have had thoughts about hurting themselves or putting an end to their own lives (suicidal thoughts). Some people tried to end their own lives. And some people have ended their own lives. There were reports that some of these people did not appear depressed. No one knows if Accutane caused these behaviors or if they would have happened even if the person did not take Accutane.

I've takin a couple different things for my face, but never Acutane. My mom was telling me how there were some cases of people getting sterile from it... I'd rather have a couple blemishes than no sperm.

this is the part your mom was probally talking about "Accutane has also been shown to cause severe birth defects. You should not take Accutane are pregnant or if you can become pregnant. It's important to stop taking Accutane if you become pregnant, stop using birth control, or miss your menstrual period."

unless your a girl, its ok, prety much.

the thing is, right now i've almost exhausted every other means.. "people say i eat too many chocolatebars" ahha

I had a buddy on it. The biggest down side (depending how you look at it) is no boozing while on it. You can seriously frack your liver up... On the plus side, it really did clear my buddies face up...

I've had it since I was 12, and I've noticed out of everything I've ever tried, the biggest factors are consistenly water and stress.

the more water I drink, the less acne I have. It's the #1 factor, and stress is #2.

my friends on it now and he says it makes your acne a little worse before it clears it up, and it dries up your face and lips a lot. it also impedes your body's ability to heal itself quickly apparently. he jacked up his foot like a month and a half ago and he still cant run on it too much, whereas if he wasnt on acutane, he probably woulda been fine in a couple weeks. but once it kills the acne its pretty much gone forever i think.

yeah i had to use it for a year.. and it totally cleared up my face completely and i havent had any pimples for two years.. When i was on it though.. My lips were always dry as hell and peeling! That part sucked but chapstick becomes your best friend haha That was my only side effect.. and also it makes your skin more sensitive to sun but in my case it seemed to work to make me tan quicker.. haha so that was chill but it was totally worth doin..

It is pretty intense, but it depends on how you feel about the acne you have. I mean for me it was worth the 6-8 months (or whatever it was) to get rid of my acne completely. I found the biggest side effect was mood swings. One minute I'd be happy and the next I'd be upset or have those hollow feelings. It pretty nuts stuff but if you want to get rid of you acne for good I'd say do it. Just make sure the side effects don't get out of hand and if they do just stop taking it.

i don't think i was ever on it, i tried a couple of other things though.

my best friend was (we're BFFs) and this is what i observed, and what he told me:

    1. he already had some slight depression, and it definitely made it a little worse.
    2. his skin wasn't really all that dry. i've known other people that have permanently chapped lips because of it; but that's one thing to keep in mind, you might not experience any of these side effects.
    3. you will burn, exponentially in the sun.
    4. it works, and i mean really, really works. but it's certainly a last resort; from what you've said in this thread though, it sounds like you're looking for a last resort.

in the end, nothing really helped me more than time and definitely trying to keep a better diet. sex helps, believe it or not. anything that relaxes you, keeps you active (skimming) and definitely hydration. but like i said, if nothing at all is working, and it's seriously causing problems for you, i'd do it. acne can cause major depression all on it's own, not to mention a myriad of other potential problems and social issues.

    Well said.

I forgot about the sun burn thing... Man my face used to get fracked by the sun everytime I went snowboarding. Yeah, wear sunscreen and buy some good lip chap like Burt's Bees or something. Because your lips will probably peel like a snake shedding its skin.
