It is not necessary, but a lot of people do. Most people use this http://www.skimcity.com/store/produc...at=3516&page=1 There are actually many other companies that make flatland pads but I would reccomend the one above.

I use regular tails pads. Up front anything like those Freaks or X-Trak strips will work. Paradise Coalition had some amazing pads.

Some people don't like grip for flatland skims and some use only a tail pad and some like xghstx likes grip front and back. It's really up to you.....

Yeah, I need full coverage. I didn't find the Freak strips offered enough grip though. They felt too thin.

Hey Matt, is that one pack of 6 on each board there? Is the 6 pack thicker like a regular tail pad or thin like the strips (if you've used them)?

here in sac in the summer its 90*+ for at least 4 months and dealing with wax melting all the time is a bitch...

the freak flatland pack is sick. if you cut them up and spread them around the 6 that come in the pack are more than enough.

Rob - ive had packs that were both thick and thin. kinda weird but i agree the thicker are better

If you're good you can make a 6 pack last up to 3 boards

Thanks Brian. I've had Paradise Coalition anywhere pads and loved them. I didn't like my Freaks that much though. The strips didn't off enough grip for me especially when trying tricks where the board spins fast and you have to try and catch it at the right time (5 shove). Maybe I'll give the flatland pack a try.
