need a little bit of help

im decent but not like amazing at skimming. a lot of times what happens to me is when the wave isnt at its peak but still pretty strong, i ride up to it, turn, and then just like sink. it doesnt like carry me back to shore. is there something im doin wrong?

Practice more. Run harder. Pump or sideslip. Pump through the wave.

Basically just don't be lazy going for ANY wave. Don't just sit still on your board waiting to get to the wave, be pumping or something to make sure you carry more speed.

u could run faster pump on the wave sideslip for it or put it all together

it will take only a few skim seshions to get pumping down you just have to constantly hit your front foot up and down i mean its hard to over explain pumping haha

I'm in the same boat... Watching the vids I think an important factor is fluency. the Pros are so fluent and graceful in thier style, whereas I'm a bit hard and akward on turning causing a loss of momentum.

Try not going straight at the wave, go more at an angle. That way you'll have more speed going across the wave. Remember......skimboards don't float enough to hold you up when not going fast. Keep your speed up at all times. Think about this too .....a small surfboard will not float you when not moving also!
