edit: you're right, I'm wrong. The wind died down today and the siders are firing. Good news for the contest in 2 weeks
You guys are in for a long summer though if you keep checking the reports because it won't drop below those numbers much until November. and wait till you see what happens when an actual swell enters the water.

Why did you guys decide against it?

damn, i never realized there was always awesome swell there. i thought it was just set up to make waves out of smaller swells. that's ridiculous, but yea, i can't wait to see a hurricane swell haha

we ran into some money complications that could have been worked out but it would have been iffy with timing (flight/hotel) soooo california road trip it is

Pretty much the only thing that kills it in the summer is the wind otherwise it's basically a 7 month long wave machine for skimboarding. While it does have flat spells they're the exception and it's a pretty safe bet that 20 out of 30 days will be good with 5 of those being epic. Just some days it takes a little more looking than others.

Looks like a solid headhigh-overhead swell is coming in the 12th-14th with chest-shoulder conditions for the contest which is the perfect size for Lovers. Should be a very interesting contest!

edit: for future reference you really need to look at all of the reports and average them out to get an idea of what's going on in Cabo. Surfline (look at the Monuments report) is the closest but none of them really know what's happening. They'll be somewhat close on the wave heights but every single one of them is clueless to what the wind is doing and that's what makes or breaks most sessions. Main thing I look for is what direction (and wave period) the primary swell coming from.
