Default Pics of Canadian Wave session

Hey guys, we went out last weekend to where the fjords meet the icy cold waters of north pacific hiked through the bush and went skimmin. Thought you might be interested in some pictures. Let me know your thoughts.

I think this is the first documented proper wave session in canada maybe? Possibly. I smell a foreverskim article

i have a ton of respect for you guys. getting stoked to skim waves like that in water like that is commendable, to say the least.

those aren't big enough to be called rocks...those are pebbles.

damage-inducing eitherway. i admire your bravery, and determination.

So instead of falling on one large hard surface you have tiny sharp knives/rocks poking your tender skin

    Default uh huh

yeah Canadian made foamies are made a bit differently then most, the rocks were "love kisses" however I shoulda taken some pics of my feet becasue filming on the shore didn't help much when boulders were being crushed on your feet with every wave. We're going atter this weekend again, although I think I've got Sars.

wow i didn't realize this thread existed....

yea that beach was rocky and sucks. but i definately work with what's given to me, no matter how bad. i still had a BLAST!!! haha.

We did another fairely large trip this past weekend, hit that same beach.... totally flat. We hit up Port Renfrew, SICKEST SHOREBREAK CANADA HAS SEEN!!! haha, a few of us got barelled by head high waves (no lie on head high, we have video which will be posted on skimbc soon). Managed to get huuggee air and so on and so forth. Took some really nasty bails tho, it's very evident that us flatland guys have the basic technical skills down pat (bigspins and such on the foamies) but actually properly timing/riding/tucking on the waves needs practice.

i haven't been cut too bad o nthe feet by the rocks, but i got hit in the back of the head being too far forward on the wave while 'finishing' a wrap and got my head plowed into the sand/pebbles... i thought i knocked out a few teeth, but no, haha i just cut up my hand then got dragged all the way back up the beach.

Plus the water is warm enough to not wear a wetty, but not recommended, i wear a half suit. It's definately not as cold out here as everyone may think, but it's not as warm as socal that's for sure.

anyways, i'm gonna bring this essay to an end.

i'll keep ppl posted on the video footy that will be on skimbc, it's definately going to put canada on the map for wave spots. (i found the waves at low tide very similar to 26th in santa cruz)

    ps....

my board has survived very well, no dings, no nothing. my Zed Skimboards' foamie have survived better than my zap comp so far, which shocked the hell outta me.

ya , cold water and rocks are all we have really, but its worth it to get to skim waves if you can call some of them that,

i mean i enjoy skimmin flatland, but theres something about searching and riding waves even with the shitty conditions and wave size thats soo appealing.

the new beach we found seems pretty epic, i'm exited to show you guys of skimonline , you guys can see the canadas got some potential. Unfortunatly the Skimbc crew had never had waves of that caliber and we kinda had trouble with timing and such.

oh and that would be amazing if forever skim did an article of wave riding in BC, maybe it would help build the wave scene a little seeing as theres only a select few who try, its mostly dominated by flatlanders out here,
Anyways stoked to get out there and try and ride those suckers again, pics soon

    yay for ankle biters
(not the beach, we found of course)
