Default since the forum is on a "supplement" kick....sleeping help

what are your favorite ways to make yourself fall asleep.

whenever i work out hard, like today, i am usually pretty wore out...right until i need to sleep. i am not a big fan of sleeping pills because i think you can get too dependent on them...

what does SOMB use to fall asleep when they cant?

I have a problem getting to sleep, and while it may be weird there is one thing that usually helps me. If I can't get to sleep in my bed I'll usually go out to the couch and crash there. For some reason whenever I sleep in a different spot I fall asleep much faster. Then I go back to my bed after that change the next day and I can sleep normal again. So try changing up your sleep location a bit, maybe that will help.

I've been an insomniac for about two years now, I suppose. Never seen a doctor. I wake up for school at 7 and usually fall asleep between 2-5(falling asleep at 2 is really great). After doing this for such a long time I've gotten sort of used to it(which I know is really not good). I'm kind of weary of pills because i don't want to get dependent on them. I'm interested to see what y'all have to say.

Edit: I do not choose to stay up as late as I do. Most teenagers think it's cool/fun/whatever to stay up so long but it's really a problem for me.

I wake up with family that does that. Usually what happens is they wake me up and I just grab my blanket and pillow and go stumble into my bed and fall asleep for a few more hours. I always sleep great after being woken up.

Sure. Tried and true. I've had severe insomnia most of my life. $1.95 a bottle on amazon. $3.83 at costco for 400 pills.

It's the active sleep ingedient in Tylenol PM, Advil PM etc. without the other drugs/crap. It's actually generic benadryl. I've been usung it for six years and you can't beat it with a Xanny bar. I usually take quite a few to make sure it straight knocks me out. I asked my doc if it was safe at high dosages (10+ pills) and she said "yes, you just might build up a tolerance over time". I've had a script for klonopin for years and this actually knocks me out faster. It's non-habit forming too. Give it a whirl

I read. 10-15 minutes of reading before bed is better than any drug. Straight Zzzzz's.

What time do you wake up/go to sleep?

Something is throwing off your sleep pattern. Timing of meals and activity level play a big part.

Set your alarm for an hour earlier and see what happens. I know if i wake up even an hour early then that night I crash out.

I would stay away from tylenol PM and other sleep aids. You become dependent on them VERY quickly and will no be able to fall asleep without them.

Wake up earlier? I get up at 6, usually work out right when I get home at 415, then eat right after that and by 1000-1030 I'm ready to pass out. I've also seen plenty of articles talking about not watching TV or using your computer for an hour or two before bed. Looking at the lights in a monitor/tv apparently never lets your brain trigger whatever the hell it is that tells you it's time to sleep since it still thinks the sun is still up.

I personally never have a problem with that...but might be worth a try.

i used to do that shit ALL the time in high school. get home from school at 12:30, sleep till lacrosse practice at 3:30. i could never go to sleep till about 2 or 3 and i don't know how i got up in the morning at 7.

that's why college is awesome because you can take later classes.i missed my 10am class this morning though because i was tired.

i cant nap. i hate napping.

ony school days or if i work early, im up by 8. but if i have the day off i normally try and get up around 9 but sometimes that doesnt go as planned. i think the problem is that i like to stay up late. i normally try to go to bed by 11 on school/work nights but off days... its just whenever i get tired. i am starting a working out routine so hopefully that will tire me out some

You dont have a sleeping problem you just have inconsistency in your sleeping patterns. Wake up at 6 am everyday. You will be in bed by 9 every night. Problem solved.

it's very rare that I can't get to sleep. When I can't, my routine is to seek out the nearest pronado, and if I still have energy after it drops me off in the next town over (which I usually don't), I'll download some music or something.

this... and the fact that I wake up at 10:00am, take a nap at 12:00pm, and drink bad shit (Full Throttle) at 11:00pm. I dont really have a sleeping schedule since I only take classes on Tuesday and Thursday, work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (all different times). I definitely need to get to bed earlier on Monday and Wednesday nights.

also being dependent on oxy's from my back pain and not having any more is keeping me awake. shit sucks
