Hey guys, I've been into working out and lifting for about 3 months now and taken Intek, Pro7, and Gold Standard proteins. Are there any mass gaining proteins like Muscle Juice or Mass Complex or other brands of protein blends/isolates that you would recommend for gaining muscle mass quickly?

Yes, I think this is the problem! Thank you! Now that you mention it I think my form is probably shitty on incline bench press too, still bringing the bar to the nipple line on incline???

I'm going to start tracking my OHP closely, so I did a baseline checkup today. Not outstanding, but I think my form is alright. Pointers? Mirin?

I should've phrased my question differently. I understand this, but I guess what I was looking for was any insight on proteins any of you have taken that gave the best results that you were looking for.

Whole gains is my favorite protein, I've gained nearly 20lbs of muscle in 9 months using this protein. The mango is my favorite flavor by them, but as far as great tasting protien the BSN Syntha 6 is the tastey-est. They make several flavors all yummy.

Dude, you're worrying about the wrong things. Protein powders are by and large all the same. Muscle milk has more sugar than others, I prefer syntha 6 because it tastes great and mixes well. No protein delivers noticeably different results over another. Lift hard and east crap tons of meat.

looks good I would say comparative to your bench your ohp is stronger, power clean form is lacking though

woah just saw your 395 deadlift video too and you could deadlift so much more. You got like 0 leg drive, legs looked pretty wide and that double overhand grip. I almost want to say you could deadlift 455 in a matter of a weeks with some form tweaks.

Thanks. Those cleans are super half-ass. I can power clean waaay more than I press (225 x 2) when I'm actually using my legs.

Interesting to hear about the DL. I did mention that it feels like I raise my hips way too fast on heavy stuff, but I feel like I cant move shit with my butt down. What do?

watch this video this kid has a pretty good setup.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=Q6np5yDnanU

    things to note
    1) he gets his shoulder behind the bar before pulling you are kinda over the bar, so he is pulling back vs you who are pulling almost straight up.
    2) he gets his hips lower and gets tighter, look at the tension in his legs before pulling. See the quick dip he does before each pull, that's to gain tension and pop off the floor.
    3) narrower stance, feet pointed pretty much straight forward. (the straighter the more power off the floor the more you open your feet the easier it is to lockout) With narrower stance you also get to pull your hands a little closer together which = shorter pull and better leverages.
    4) grip he double over hands like you but uses hook grip (much stronger and you can pull harder), either learn this or mixed grip.

probably a little higher on incline, but I generally dont really do incline barbell anyway, I find the incline benches a bit too incline and I end up just hitting shoulders instead of upper chest. I stick to OHP and Bench Press with barbells. And usually just hit incline with heavy dbs on one of those adjustable benches.

Got 405 today (DL) just by changing to a mixed grip and narrowing my stance. Almost time to pick up another plate from craigslist. Pretty happy.

I need to work my hams way more. Romanian DL's twice a week from now on.

yeah, a lot recently. how do you guys feel about hex bar deadlifts? I can never seem to get my form just right with the straight bar. I haven't tried sumos yet, but I've been using the hex bar and I seem to be able to get the best form using it.

I haven't been as serious about deads since losing my hex bar. Can't stand scraping my shins with a straight bar

I wouldn't use hex bar its a pretty different lift. Much more leg dominant. I wear neoprene knee sleeves on my shins to avoid scraping my shins up.

I like sumo deadlifts alot, but they are definitely much more technical than conventional. So if you plan to do those watch some good tutorials or get someone experienced to help you out.

Interesting... sounds like I really should stick to standard grip. I'm actually lifting next week with my buddy who has deadlifted and done pretty well in some comps... he's going help me with my squat and deadlift form. He has a video on youtube, wouldn't like me posting it on a forum but you guys know what you're doing so let me know if I can pm it over so you can chex teh form

I mean form is very subjective. Some people are light weight form nazis. Some people only care about form as a way to lift maximal weight. For instance. In this video of me deadlifting my upper back is pretty rounded. Some people would call that good form and some would call it bad form. As I get closer to failure my lower back starts to round too. In my opinion that's just pushing your limits, some people however will never push it that hard for fear of injury. But I have never been injured from deadlifting.

Feel free to pm me a video though.

I haven't lifted a weight in 5 weeks, only been skimming my ass off. Already lost 12 pounds all muscle! My cardio's good, but my weight fluxuations have been so much more drastic now that I'm older...
