I need to update with actual pics of my board now. Ridden it a good 5 times, most recently in clean chest high weak leftover groundswell. I was making it around sections, hitting the top multiple times and getting 30-40 yard rides while the shortboarders were chop hopping and I was doing circles around the longboarders. Greg Webber is a genius, I am in love with my mini fish

Did you notice that he got most of his speed at the top of the wave. If you stay at the bottom of the wave your board will be like a slug, you need to head to the top and then drop back down to get the speed to pass someone or if the wave is closing out in front of you.

I felt similar to that guy yes, definitely not raping the whole lineup as bad as him though. that video still blows my mind.

yes, 100% about getting to the top of the wave, especially in Florida where faces are often flatter and you have to get to the top of that steep lip to use as a ramp to come down off of and utilize the line in front of you

Tony that board looks soooo . I just had a thought, if you took that blank and cut across the middle and rounded a nose with that fish tail, it would look just like the new fish skimboards that are out now.

I just checked out your pixs, and I really miss shaping surfboards.........
Edit: But I sure don't miss glassing them........I guess that's why I don't make foam skims anymore.

my brother owns a mini fish and I took it out for a ride yesterday. The waves blew, but that board had so much float it was so easy to catch waves. truly a great board.

what size did you ride? I have the 5'9". it's really thick and has ridiculous float, but once you get it moving it does whatever you want. it's great in shitty waves, but in glassy waist-chest high it truly shines

So I rode her for the first time today, not really on any wave faces but I rode it, my first impression is, its really fast, she goes forever, and incredibly stable, I'm so used to a really twitch skimboard because it has no fins and is so small but the thing is so easy to pop up on and just is nice and smooth, floats reallllly well. Also, it sits and paddles wayyy better then my 6'2, its amazing what a few inches wider, 2 inches shorter and wayyy thicker can do as far as how nice it rides, which in the case of my shortboard, didnt ride at all.

I'm really glad you like it. I knew you would, because it's looks just like my fish from the 70's. I was so stupid to stop making and riding them. (peer pressure I guess). Don't let that happen to you, even if you do get a new different board someday.....keep your fish too.

If you're talking about that old Kevlar/Graphite foam skim, I have not made them in over 25 years. But that kid in Oregon has one though and I thought you were going to buy it. Any word on that board?

niceeeee, dude the quad fin is mad fast so i cant imagine how fast a twin would be, mines a 6'4 though so its kinda bending the fish size rules.

No it's not bending the rules for a fish size. It is a big fish, but still a full on fish though. Again I love your board. That would be a fun size for me, I'm 6'1" @ 200lbs.....so now you know you will not out grow your fish.

    Check this frickin thing out! It's not neccesarily a fish I don't think....but it's a cool idea.

Hey jim, sorry to resurrect this thread, but i just started getting into surfing and after reading through this thread, fishes sound awesome! I dont have much money to drop, so i was pretty stoked to find this fish http://www.jk-surfboards.com/product_details.php?id=25 for under $300...I dont really know anything about surfboards, but would this be a good board? I'd mostly be surfing 3'-6' waves and i'm 6'2" and around 180 pounds. If this is a decent board, I'd be getting it 6'0" x 21 1/2" x 2 3/4"
