    Default Wetsuit Question

My birthday is in two weeks, and I'm gonna get a wetsuit. So, all that's left is to pick out one, this is where you all come in. I'll be surfing and skimming through winter (I know some guys I surf with who go out in the dead of winter, I'll be going out with them this year). So, I'll need a full suit, hood, boots, gloevs, everything. I was going to get the Oneil Psycho off of this one site, but it only came hooded. I don't want an attached hood.

So, I was looking at this site http://www.sierratradingpost.com/eui...=All&D=wetsuit and on ebay because I'll need it somewhat reduced in price.

    Suggestions, por favor?

o'neill psycho, ripcrul fireskin, quicksilver cell, no matter what top of the line you get, they are all going to be sick. good call on the non-attached hood though.

but wearing a 3/2 in the dead of winter in virginia? count me out, wow.

I've been super happy w/ my Rip Curl Raptor (or w/e it's called) that I got like 3 years ago. I love rip curl.

I was pretty much going to say the same thing, but wasn't sure b/c I haven't bought but 2 wetsuits in my life. And yes, I 3/2 it year round here.

I'm a pretty big fan of Rip Curl too. I have a 3/2 classic, 2m classic spring, and a 4/3 e2 bomb. The batwing collar on the e bomb is kind of annoying, but it really does help with flushes.

If it gets cold enough to need a hood and gloves you might want to think about getting something a little heavier than a 3/2.

I don't know, I've never had heavier than a 3/2 and I've been fine, but yeah it's cold in the dead of winter. I was in water once that was 39 according to Nags Head Pier, and that was cold as ish. But if you are only getting one wetsuit, don't get a 4/3, because it's really only that cold for a couple of months out of the year.

Damn I couldn't imagine being in that cold of water in a 3/2, but there is nothing that I hate more than being cold.

I was 14 and just started surfing, so I had stoke keeping me warm. Wouldn't catch me out there in water that cold now.

Young kids have no feeling for cold water.

in the fall, a longsleeve 1 mil will be your best friend. The water's NOT cold, so it's only your torso and arms that get cold.

That's what I use for dawn patrol in october.

Yea, that makes more sense. But, I'm just gonna go for a full suit for my birthday because I won't have another chance to get one until Christmas. So, that way I can have the fullsuit into winter, and either get a long sleeve top or a spring suit for Christmas.

and yeah, go ahead and get the full. The only problem w/ not having a spring for me is... well, spring. I'll wear the longsleeve but my balls will be in my throat.

and, it's a 4/3... trust me dude, don't make that mistake. You'll only need it for the 2 or 3 months you're least likely to be surfing around here. That's just too much neoprene for the rest of the year.
