    Default Swimming?

I was just wondering if most skimmers are pretty good swimmers? Skimming is usually pretty close to the shore but I know there is a lot of times when it comes in very handy out there! I am not on a swim team or anything but I am an okay swimmer. So I was just kinda curious to see how many of you were actually pretty good? Thanks!

I feel I am a good swimmer but I have no one to really compare to since I am not on a swim team.

I know how to swim but I cant say I am really good at it. I can do your basics strokes and tread water but Im really not a super strong swimmer.

I care because I usually skim by myself (around SF area) and it might be really useful to work on my swimming abilities in case something ever happened! So this thread would help me decide on how much I should actually work on my swimming. I am 13 so I have a parent usually around but to be on the safe side.......

i'm a varsity swimmer. it doesn't help whatsoever with skimming but immensely with surfing

    horrible swimmer

but I'm sure if you were to skim any huge sider like Solmar, Wedge, etc. you will need to know how to swim very well... otherwise you die.

I'm a pretty good swimmer. I was going to do swimming, but can't balance it with XC.

I swim for my college and summer club team. Its a great sport, probably the best sport to keep you in shape. But I'd always rather be skimming than swimming

eh, im just a lil under average... im usually near shore, and i could usually stand up if i get knocked down. im not a huge fan of swimming, so thats why im near shore, the deepest i WANT to go is up to like my chest

Learn to swim...well. Get involved with the ocean. Surf. Bodysurf. Be a waterman, not an ocean tourist. Don't waste the resource.

As long as you know how to swim you should be fine. It always amazed me when people that didn't know how to swim wanted to learn to windsurf...you don't plan on swimming while windsurfing, but sometimes shit happens...same could go for skimming.
