I also hate this. I know that this is an unwritten rule and it even has a good amount of validity behind it, but if the kid hasn't done anything wrong yet, why perpetuate the stereotype that santa cruz skimmers are loc'd out. We have enough of that vibe with surfing in santa cruz, we don't need it in skimming too.

We constantly get kids coming over from the valley (and you know there from the valley cuz you hear the word hella in every sentence) that don't even look before going for waves, and end up snaking kids, dinging boards, and ruining it for everyone else. I wouldn't say it if it didn't need to be said.

How about you take some of your own advice and "chill out". How about trying to provide advice to new skimmers and teach them how to be respectful when they come to your 'holy' santa cruz. New skimmers can't learn about how to behave on the beach when douchebags like you spout off without providing any real advice.

This is exactly the type of thing that annoyed me about santa cruz when I lived there for 3 years, the people that think they are sooo special for being santa cruz locals. Santa cruz is a nice city, I would actually like to live there again if I had the chance, but you are reflecting poorly on yourself and the santa cruz skim scene in general when you pull your loc dawg, "I want to be a dick" shit.

and in case you didn't notice......what i did was give him advice! I said stay out of the way of better then him. amazing advice, because when you stay out of their way, you can watch people better then you, you see what they do and copy it to help yourself improve. and when you stay out of peoples way, you earn respect for not being a kook.
