the smaller the rocker the faster but then its harder to get over chop in the water. Its more of the rider not the board

Thanks......Rum Runner, here is a old thread I made.....it might help you understand rocker better.

Here's a fun test you can do to see why rocker is bad but your board will not work with out it. This is the same reason sideslipping works. I learned this trick from a surfing mag back when I was a surfer. This is how it works. Get a spoon hold it at the very top of the handle and turn on the water at your sink. Now holding the spoon by the very end of the handle, let the bottom of the spoon touch the running water. The round back of the spoon will be sucked into the water. Now turn the spoon over and try to put the other side of the spoon in the running water. It will push away. Even if you use a flat spoon or anything flat, it will not be sucked in like the back of a spoon. The back of the spoon is like the bottom of a surfboard or skimboard. The more rocker, the more it sucks down. But a surf or skim will not work without rocker. So when you turn your board sideways the water is not going down the rocker, it's going across the flat part of the board. Meaning it's not sucking down making it slow down. If you don't agree with this, what do you think???? If you have a different theory, I'm open to here it.

I just thought of something.......a skimboard / surfboard is like a airplane wing, but upside down. The wing of a airplane wing is flat on the bottom but round on top. The round part on top is like the bottom of a skmboard. But on top it sucks the plane up, unlike a skim where it sucks the board down. And now you now the rest of the story.......good day.

The difference is that airplane wings operate utilizing both the air travelling on top and the air travelling underneath. Skimboards only have water travelling underneath the board.

theres a difference between being fast and being fast with a skimboard

for some reason i run faster with a skimboard in hand becuase when i sprint and stuff i fail my arms around and my legs all weird but when im skimming my arms dont flail and my legs run normal for some reason.

I would think......the air going under the wing doesn't do anything.....only the air going on top. The air going over the top has more drag than the air going under the wing. The air going over the top is drag and gives lift. The air going under doesn't have any drag. (neutral) Does that sound right, I'm not sure now what I just said......

syndromes are fast, and apparently squares are too, vics seem slower to me, i definitely think there is a difference if not just a slight one.

IMO slotstiks are the FASTEST down the line. Apex is the fastest slip out and really fast turn. Syndromes have an insane fast turn also.

If you get an exile, try the "Domke" rocker (not sure if there's another name for it). It's a little flatter version of the hybrid rocker and I've found it to be really fast and good for planing. As far as actual down the line speed, not quite as fast as the Paulo I used to ride but I think that has more to do with the fact that I changed from a pro shape to a hybrid.
