The contest itself, or whoever put the contest on for whatever reason is not what is getting made light of, Jesse. Its the fact that a Gulf of Mexico Skimboarding contest had "SHORE POUND" in the title. That is it. Props to whoever ran the contest and got the pros a condo so they could all sleep in the same room on tha same bed with monster (hahahaha can anyone see that mental picture?).

I have to agree with Paddy on this one... knowing the comp was on the gulf coast and seeing the size of the waves in the pics, the name "shorepound" definitely isn't very fitting, not too mention I don't really like that word in general even if it is big shorebreak. But that being said those guys in the pics are definitely thrown down and making the most of those conditions with some sick airs! So props to them and whoever took the quality pics! Good job!

EDIT: And i grew up on the gulf coast of florida and learned how to skimboard in clearwater. I learned that the place is not somewhere you can advance in the right direction in skimboarding, so i moved to California 2.5 years ago. You think youre too funny.

I never said that the name was incorrect, inaccurate yes. I know that if the contest at Aliso was called kneeslaps or hacks skimboarding contest, someone/anyone would say something. Stop trying to defend the gulf so hard, it was a contest with waves no bigger then your shin with a name that goes good with a contest at wedge. You dont see the irony in the name? Then you need to gtfo of Florida and go somewhere there are waves. Who, in your opinion, has more class then him? What did he do to you? have you ever walked out on the beach and some kid started ranting about how good the skim was earlier, and how you missed the best part of it, then you look at the waves coming in and there was no way it was that much bigger or better, but the kid was talking it up so much? thats a kook...have you ever seen someone post multiple times on a thread about the name of a contest, ranting going from one subject to the other, just over an ironically inaccurate name, bashing people in the process, dropping the "K" bomb left and right.....well i think you get the idea. and it has nothing to do with talent, being a kook is partially attitude as well as talent, i know plenty of people that would be called a kook because of their skill level, but their attitude and love for the sport makes them the opposite....but its whatever

Why make it an idea? Why dont you just say it? Being a kook has plenty to do with your skill level, how are you going to sit there and explain a kook and do it wrong?
