A hyper text is a text with no beginning, no middle and no end. It is "produced" or coded by someone, but you the activist are just as much an author as the producer, because you click through various hypertextual links to get to the next parts of the text. There is no narrative (beginning middle or end), and you essentially jump into the middle, and then jump out when you feel you want to. (no a choose your own adventure is not a hypertext if you were thinking that, that still has a set path for you to follow irregardless of what you which path you chose.

Think of a hypertext as the internet. When you log on to the internet, you don't start at the beginning of it and when you finish it you don't come to the end of the internet. You "submerse" yourself.

I created a hypertext for a class on narrative convergence (read: video game theory). My professor is a pretty progressive one for this class and gave us the option to create a hypertext, website or traditional essay for this project. Since there are only 5 hypertexts in print in the world, I thought I would try and create my own hypertext. It was fracking hard.
