    Default abandoned mining towns

I have had a fascination with abandoned places for a short time and I want to visit a 'ghost' town that you need to hike out to and has many houses and buildings.

Does anyone know of any of these towns or do you know where i can find a list of towns that are not national/state parks?

    I am talking 100% abandoned.

    go to Bodie:

I'm pretty sure the residents got vaporized by aliens because books and shit are literally still on the shelves in the houses.

    successful troll is successful.

Been to bodie, its a national/state park and you are restricted to viewing the inside of the buildings with a tour guide. bodie = tourist destination...I want to go to a town in the middle of the desert that hasnt had anyone go near it for 20ish years

hah, maybe one day when i have the money to fly over there and miss a few weeks of work and then a few more weeks of work for radioactive treatment. but places like Chernobyl would be cool minus the radioactive part. and preferably within 600 miles of socal

Uh, well she started hyperventilate, and then she reached for a hit of what she thought was an oxygen tank... Turned out to be a helium container from pediatrics. Then she screamed [high helium voice]'I'll kill you bitches!!!'..
which frankly we all thought was hilarious.

Not all of them are towns. You can go back to the home page to view other states.

theres a sweet old abandoned i forget what kinda factory up in aiken s.c.

or if you really want to have fun, come to barnwell south carolina and roam around the savannah river site for fun. it's where they make/used to make, not sure what they do exactly nowadays, the uranium for nuclear weapons and they also perform nuclear weapon research there. it's still operating, we drive through it every now and again for baseball, about 13 miles wide and every mile or less theres a "no stopping or standing over whatsoever unless emergency" and there are cameras everywhere within the trees and do not enter signs everywhere and tons and tons of side dirt roads, pretty sure there are guys just chilling in the woods waiting for shit to happen too.

the best part is that there are also signs that have little almost communist slogans like "winning together means working together"

it's a really creepy place, driving through there at night blows. also until about 10 years ago, they gave you a specific amount of time to get through, idk how exactly they measured it but if you didn't they would come look for your car.
    i'm ed.

We've started to build alot of strange stuff out there. And it's funny because no one can get a master plan set. Each company gets only part of the plans and job sites are covered with thousands of cameras.
west virginia or western virginia. i had family that lived in west virginia and driving through there always seemed like there was something weird about it. backwoods areas then massive mines, huge buildings in the middle of nowhere.

I'm pretty sure a few kids from my photography class a few years ago broke into Glendale to take pictures. At least I'm pretty sure it was Glendale. Wherever it was, I don't plan on going there. I'll see if I can track down some of the pictures they took.
