i have an FFL license and ship/sell firearms on gunbroker, buy all of my parts there to build my custom shit also.
newest toy, 300black out barrel threaded for my custom supressor. shoots a 200grain copperjacketed bullet with zero recoil and sounds like a daisy b-b gun until impact.
eh, photo is off album cover of mine, don't feel like uploading other pics atm, just grabbed this one off facebook

I know it's not what you said you were looking for. But I have an AR15 22cal. Best investment I ever made. You can take it to any range and at the end of the day you spend at most 30 bucks for 500 rounds.
I just bought a XDM 3.8" .45 with the stainless slide. I'll post photos later. I just ordered new grips and mag extensions for it. I'm going to buy the Viridian C5l within the next month.

Was about to buy a stainless XDM with my tax return as well... until I realized that getting one (legally) in CA required too many legal acrobatics. Will now be buying a different firearm or some new audio gear instead.
Sam, idk if your mind is made up on the green laser already, but i recommend against a green laser for technical reasons. get red if u can. However, ive only used an external laser once, didn't like it that much (can totally see how they are useful in some situations though), so maybe your experience knows something i dont. also i do know the human eye sees green better than any other color so...
lol time stamp broken?

Penguin - my mind is pretty made up. I don't have anything against red lasers, but green is much more visible during the daytime, and that Viridian is just badass. The light is meh, but if the light was my main concern, I'd be getting a Streamlight TLR-1 or something. The C5L fits the 3.8" perfectly, and other lights/combos don't because the gun is so short. I don't want it to extend past the end of the barrel. I'll post photos when I get it. For what reasons do you prefer red?
I've put probably 300rds through the gun so far, and I love it. It's incredibly accurate and the grips feel great to me. The only complaint I have is that the back of the grip bites into your hand a little bit after 50 shots or so. Obviously not an issue for personal protection, but as far as a range toy goes it gets pretty uncomfortable. Powder River Precision makes both sand and rubberized grip add-ons to fix that though, and that's what I ordered. It feels much better to me than a Glock does. Glocks don't feel right in my hand at all. Here's a photo of the gun:

sam - w/o getting too technical, trying to debate you, or trying to sound like an asshat:
assumptions being made: this is for some sort of self defense or concealed carry - compact + laser for intimidation factor. you are staking your life on this in case you ever need it.
-if this is mostly/strictly a range toy, then i retract all of the above, buy whatever makes you happy.
also, the tech isn't just/all bad even though it may seem like thats what im saying. i use a green laser for my boresighter myself. and if i were to use a laser, i'd like green too, but unfortunately i dont see this being a good idea until a few more years into the future.
benefits of green:
- green is WAY easier to see for the human eye vs red. however, as you also know this can also go both ways.
drawbacks:
-more expensive b/c difficult to manufacture - it seems like this is not a factor for you so i won't get into it.
-less reliability - many more stages made up of relatively (to your xd) sensitive/fragile equipment over a red laser which is produced in a single stage and is relatively robust. the multiple stages are due to the intrinsic physical limitations of the materials used for solid state based lasers. as far as i know, there is no diode that emits a green light right now. green is usually another color being emitted by the diode, whose output is then manipulated a little bit by some other little bits of equipment to make green. realize this applies to solid state lasers, not gas lasers which would be bigger than your gun.
-less battery life - based on the above since there are a lot of working parts vs a few (will draw more current at less voltage from the battery) but this isn't a huge deal since im assuming you would check the battery on this regularly. also if you are in hot or cold weather, expect battery life to plummet even more.
-less r&d by the industry since most things use red or other types of lasers. not very many things use small green solid state based lasers. meaning that no matter how their marketing dept tries to spin it, you are kind of staking your life on someone else's kind of guinea pig product.
-not as good in the heat or cold - has to do with some of the parts in the multiple stages required to make a green laser. the laser may not perform up to par or could suddenly cut out in heat/cold.
again, not from actual experiences, just different stuff from my engineering classes being applied to lasers.
No doubt man I totally respect that. You've got some serious laser knowledge. I knew in making my decision that the battery life is substantially less, but my buddy has a Viridian green on his Beretta and he hasn't changed the battery in three years. So a red might last 6, but either way is fine with me. I just really like the green because of the visibility difference.

for sure. yeah, we are all diff people in different scenarios. head >> tools always and it seems like u have ur stuff figured out.
one thing though, if you ever drop the green laser (even if its your gun hitting the ground) or subject it to shock, a lot of force, etc. make sure you really test it out before trusting your life with it again. again, i won't get technical, but one of those little components in particular that make a green laser green isn't exactly something you want being shaken up. well, all the components, but this one especially. exception is recoil on your pistol/s.

fracking hate the handguard magpul bullshit it came with. Currently looking for a lightweight quad rail and coyote brow rail covers to swap out. Also need to get some BUIS.
Pops is being cool. I was gonna buy a XD exactly like Sam's, but couldn't justify dropping the $ right now. My dad got one for himself, and since he doesn't need his Ruger 9mm anymore, he's giving it to me. Will update with pics/model specs once it's here.
Ok looked at the bullet, now what?
how are you liking the fn there? they are great but i traded mine recently for a cz.
pictures of something i got a little bit ago to come soon.
Weird issue with a Mosin right now, hoping someone may know something:
When I have a round chambered, the bolt won't shut if its the last round or the first round (of all 5).
- All matching serial numbers. Have already taken it apart and gotten all the cosmo out.
- It is smooth right until it suddenly gets stuck before closing. Happens with the bolt is about 20 degrees away from closing. This is a standard M91 where the bolt sticks sideways when closed.
- Gun works perfectly with 0, 2, 3, or 4 rounds in the gun. If it matters, when I empty all the ammo out, the bolt is very smooth, especially for a Mosin. Gun goes bang with no issues at all on these rounds.
- If I drop a round into the chamber directly (bypass internal magazine), the bolt gets stuck as well.
- Didn't notice anything unusual in the primer strikes.
- Tried swapping rounds out in case those two happened to be out of spec. Didn't help. Swapped out rounds didn't seem to have anything wrong with them.
- This is only happening with one of my Mosins, not both. I took the bolt/group out and double checked, couldn't find anything wrong. Figured if I put one together wrong, I would have put both of them together wrong since I put them together following parallel steps (ie insert firing pin + spring on one, then insert on other before moving to the next step)
Thats weird , and did you swap bolts between the two Mosins?, maybe its catching on something ,if its that big of a problem make a quick video and ask around on a Mosin forum and im sure someone will help.
Reviving the lost art of manliness
That is weird that it only happens on the first and last round. My first thought was just like a bur in there that is easy to get rid of just slam the bolt open and close until it wears away. It could be a problem with the ejector spring or whatever you want to call that piece. Did you make sure that you put that back in correctly when after you removed the cosmoline? I turned one of my mosins into a cheap scout rifle and dropped it into a monte carlo stock that put pressure on the ejector spring and gave me issues cycling through the last round, so there is a chance something is pushing on the ejector piece.
Aside that go look on mosin forums like ankle biter said.
